The parallels between different franchises make it entertaining for fans of multiple shows and film series to see all of the similarities and differences. The Wheel of Time has many parallels to other fantasy-inspired works.

Fans have already spotted The Wheel of Time characters’ GOT counterparts, but there are even more fictional worlds where these captivating characters could easily fit in. In the Harry Potter franchise, Hogwart’s infamous sorting hat picks a house for students based on their unique personalities and value systems, so which of the four would Wheel Of Time’s magical beings fit into?

The Dark One – Slytherin

The Dark One is currently more of an omniscient presence than a physical being, but they have the same energy as Voldemort did in his less-material forms. There are many crazy details about Voldemort’s body and one that The Dark One shares is the ability to take on many different physical appearances.

For that reason, and The Dark One’s ability to cunningly evade capture and convince people to follow them, they would be sorted into Slytherin. Slytherins are highly ambitious and have lofty goals for themselves. They’re clever and sly, like a fox in the shadows waiting to strike, and that’s what the Dark One is doing in The Wheel of Time.

Logain Ablar – Gryffindor

Logain portrays one of the key Gryffindor traits: confidence. Even when he was being touted as the “False Dragon” and everyone told him he was too old to actually be the Dragon Reborn, he continued to believe in himself.

Logain also displays immense bravery. He faced multiple murder attempts and stayed calm throughout, even showing mercy to his attackers. He is single-minded in his goals and shows a lot of determination, proving that he’s a natural Gryffindor.

Rand Al’Thor – Hufflepuff

Hufflepuffs, above all else, are kind-hearted. They also make amazingly thoughtful friends. Rand would do anything for the people he cares about because of his loyal and committed personality. He consistently took care of Mat, even when he treated him horribly in return.

Rand is a sweet, family-centric character, like many Hufflepuffs in the Harry Potter franchise. He puts others’ needs in front of his own, like when Egwene needs to choose her training over a life with him. He also understands his responsibility as a possible Dragon and knows that people are relying on him.

Nynaeve Al’Meara – Gryffindor/Slytherin

Nynaeve is another strong Gryffindor character in The Wheel of Time. She is brave beyond belief, going into battles with mythical creatures like Trollocs with only a small knife and her stealth abilities.

She is confident in her strengths as a healer but is also very clever, showing that she also has Slytherin traits. She knows how important she is to others, and isn’t afraid to manipulate others with that knowledge. Like her Witcher counterpart, Yennefer, she likes to be one step ahead and goes into any situation headfirst.

Egwene Al’Vere – Ravenclaw

Egwene values knowledge and learning above all else, which aligns perfectly with Ravenclaw values. She doesn’t mind being on her own, but she’s also comfortable in a small group of close friends.

She’s a quick student, and Nynaeve immediately recognized her potential for healing and channeling. She also has trademark Ravenclaw innovation and is able to think on her toes even in high-pressure situations, like when she and Perrin are being held captive.

Perrin Aybara – Hufflepuff

Perrin, like Rand, belongs in the Hufflepuff house. Although his confusion led to a tragedy early on in the series, he is the golden retriever of the group: a true sweetheart who has an undying love for his friends.

Hufflepuffs are also known for their honesty, and Perrin is torn apart when his friends don’t know the truth about how his wife died. When he’s finally able to reveal the truth, it’s like a weight has been lifted off of him and he’s able to unlock a unique wolf power.

Mat Cauthon – Slytherin/Hufflepuff

Mat tends to be pulled into darker force, magical or otherwise. He’s lured by greed and ambition to steal an ancient dagger, and he routinely cons other people into doing his work for him, giving him major points in the “cunning” category which would make him a great Slytherin.

However, his family is his greatest pride, and he shows unwavering loyalty to his two younger sisters. Everything he does is for their wellbeing and safety, and that level of selflessness matches up with Hufflepuff’s ideals.

Moiraine Damodred – Ravenclaw

Moiraine has a quiet confidence that’s more akin to a Ravenclaw than a Gryffindor. She has dedicated her entire life – especially the last two years – to searching out knowledge about the Dark One and the Dragon Reborn.

Additionally, Moiraine doesn’t mind going off on her own adventures, meaning she’s the perfect counterpart to Gandalf in LOTR, and even thrives being out on the road with only Lan for company. She’s one of the more eccentric sisters of the Aes Sedai, and the others find her hard to read, which is fairly common for a Ravenclaw.

Lan Mandragoran – Hufflepuff/Gryffindor

Lan, and all of the Warders, are about as loyal as a person can get. Their connection to their Aes Sedai informs everything that they do and their life revolves around it. Lan is also very kind and welcoming to others, specifically Nynaeve.

Like fellow Gryffindor, Thena of Eternals, Lan exhibits extreme bravery. Because of his position, Lan has to be courageous every day. He fights off anyone that might harm Moiraine with the cool confidence of someone well aware of how many years they’ve trained for battle.

Liandrin Guirale – Slytherin

Liandrin’s main prerogative throughout her time on the show is ambition. Liandrin will reveal any secret or blackmail any person to come out on top in every situation. She doesn’t back down when authority tries to simmer her down – she pushes harder.

Her reputation among the Aes Sedai is very important to her. She immediately folded when that reputation was called into question by Moiraine. She also has a lot of pride and has a difficult time admitting to being wrong or a hypocrite. All of these traits would see her instantly sorted into Slytherin.

Loial – Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff

Loial is by far one of the most knowledgeable and academic characters in The Wheel of Time. He constantly wants to talk about books, stories, and anecdotal facts. He has a passion for learning that is greater than all of the humans on the show combined.

In the Hufflepuff spirit, Loial is generous and kind, offering to help Moiraine, even when the task at hand was both difficult and dangerous. He likes to take things slow and have small talk – something that only Hufflepuffs have patience for.
