New World’s main teething issue of server space hasn’t come up that much this week – but that doesn’t mean it’s been smooth sailing for the new MMO. A new patch rolled out this week, and while it fixed many problems that had plagued players since launch, it did inadvertently create some more and left some of the most pressing matters unaddressed.

Infinite Boss Spawns

Ever thought to yourself, “Wow that boss was easy! I could take on 40 of those.” Well, today’s your lucky day! All over the world, players are finding ways to get bosses to spawn way too much, taking out unsuspecting players who accidentally stumble across them. Some are reporting that players are spawning the clumps of tough enemies on purpose, in an effort to grind for XP. Given how quickly the foes are taking players out in the videos we’ve seen, however, they’re likely biting off more than they can chew.

Latest Patch Brings Bug Fixes, But Not Server Transfers

As ever, among the biggest news stories is the weekly patch, which addressed numerous bugs reported by players around launch. On top of fixing glitches that prevented progression, it has also updated the suspension system, which was not informing players why they had received a ban. Anyone who is reported should now be told why. Further still, it amended the AFK system, so players shouldn’t be able to run into a wall for hours on end to avoid being kicked. Unfortunately, the update didn’t add server transfers as we had been told to expect, so you’ll likely have to hang on a few more days for that.

Players Are Mass Reporting Enemies To Win Battles

Well, MMOs and good sportsmanship hardly go hand-in-hand. Numerous players are complaining on the New World subreddit that some are mass reporting entire guilds before a big PvP match, dwindling down the list of opponents before the battle has even begun. “50 People in my 100 person company are now banned”, said one player. “This is absolutely ridiculous, what now? We have to give up our hard-fought territory because everyone can press report a couple times? This is crazy we need a fix ASAP.”

The Game Thinks You’re AFK While You’re Shopping

As previously mentioned, the latest update brought changes to the AFK detection system. The aim of this was to wipe out the notorious AFK room, where players would leave a character running into a wall while they left the game. This was all to avoid the massive server queues, but of course, meant that the queue wasn’t moving quickly at all, and people who actually wanted to play the game were left waiting. Amazon was not clear on how the system had been changed, and it has now had the unintended consequence of booting players while they’re shopping and fishing. Of course, while you’re doing these activities, you’re not walking around. You are, however, still active in the game, but the game doesn’t seem to count it unless you’re actually moving through the world. Until this issue has been addressed, it is recommended that you have your character walk around every five minutes, just to make sure you avoid the detector
