Three interactive novels set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe are currently being developed by Choice of Games.

The Vampire: The Masquerade setting is tailor-made for visual novels, but there has only been one released to date, in the form of Coteries of New York. The political intrigue of undead society, coupled with the ravenous addiction to blood that all vampires share, means that the setting is a better fit for visual novels than other tabletop gaming franchises.

The World of Darkness universe is going to be growing even further over the next year, as Choice of Games has announced that it’s developing three interactive Vampire: The Masquerade novels. These novels are text-only and won’t have any graphics or sound.

The first novel will be Vampire: The Masquerade – Night Road. The player takes on the role of a vampire courier, which is an important role in a world where the Second Inquisition has made it impossible for undead to send digital messages. The courier is tasked with delivering an important message while dodging hunters. The second novel will be Vampire: The Masquerade – Out for Blood. The player takes on the role of a human hunter, who is caught up in a war between the thin-bloods and a vampire named Chastain. The third novel will be Vampire: The Masquerade – Parliament of Knives. The Prince of Ottawa has disappeared, leaving no hint as to where they have gone. You play as the childer of Eden Corliss, the Prince’s second in command, as you search for the missing monarch.

Coteries of New York proved that Vampire: The Masquerade has a lot of potential for the interactive/visual novel format and it’s exciting to see the setting expanded even further in the future. The fifteen-year long drought of Vampire: The Masquerade games is long gone and the Kindred have returned to claim the night.
