The Transformers are at it once again, and now, it’s up to you to help Bumblebee and the others to put a stop to the plans of the evil Megatron.

Transformers: Battlegrounds – from developer Coatsink and published by family-friendly publisher Outright Games – will be making its way to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC on October 23rd.

To celebrate the news, a brand-new teaser trailer was released that shows off a massive city battle between the Autobots and Decepticons, featuring visuals that definitely look welcoming for a younger audience. This makes sense given Outright Games’ focus on family-friendly titles.

Transformers: Battlegrounds will tell the story of Megatron in search of the almighty Allspark, while the Autobots – in search of a new commander – fight him and the other Decepticons in an attempt to save Earth.

Gameplay will take place in the form of a single-player campaign, while also offering up multiplayer action.

“The Transformers franchise is one of the most enduring and recognizable in the world of entertainment,” said CEO of Outright Games, Terry Malham. “It’s an honor to work with this beloved universe and these iconic characters to create a new and exciting Transformers console game that families can enjoy together.”

Mark Blecher, Hasbro SVP Corporate Strategy and Business Affairs, echoed the excitement, stating:

“Transformers: Battlegrounds is a new and authentic take on what a Transformers video game can be. It’s exciting for us to bring the epic story of the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons to life for a new generation of fans on console.”

Rest assured that even though the plot revolves around the Autobots’ search for a new leader, Optimus Prime does show up in the teaser trailer. Whether he’ll be available as a playable character is not yet known, but at least the younger generation will get to meet the iconic leader of the Autobots.

Transformers: Battlegrounds is currently slated to be released on October 23rd for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC
