Ten years ago, Treyarch officially announced Call of Duty: Black Ops by posting a world premiere trailer on its YouTube page. Over the decade, the company would go and create additional installments in the series, each offering new and unique gameplay to the Call of Duty franchise. Fast forward to today and Treyarch has decided to celebrate Call of Duty: Black Ops’ tenth-anniversary announcement with a special recap video.

Aside from posting the video, which highlights some of the most memorable and iconic moments from the campaign section of the game, Treyarch also posted a special message talking more about the game and how it went to shape up future games in the Call of Duty: Black Ops series. “Call of Duty: Black Ops was the history you thought you knew,” the company wrote in its official blog. “It was Woods, Hudson, and Mason… it was plausible deniability, and mindf*ckery… it was THE NUMBERS!… and best of all, it was just scratching the surface.”

As it’s typical nowadays, video game companies like to hide small and unnoticeable secrets within their games, trailers, written announcements, and so on. These Easter eggs serve as potential announcements that might happen in the future, and it’s up to the fans to see if they are able to uncover them. Treyarch’s recap video may not be an exception to the trend. At the end of the recap video, one can see a bunch of numbers flash quickly. While it’s not immediately clear, the numbers are certain to mean something (as they did in the original game) and it’s fair to say that their meaning might eventually be revealed.

One possibility is that Treyarch is preparing to release a remastered version of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Seeing how some of the game’s predecessors got their own remakes (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for instance), there is a chance that the game will also see some sort of remake. Another possibility could be a whole new installment in the series. Considering how there have been rumors suggesting a Call of Duty: Black Ops reboot, and how 2020 is the 10-year anniversary of the original game, the reboot might also have a very high chance of happening.

As always, however, it would be best for fans to wait for any official announcements and confirmations either from Treyarch or Activision.
