Twitch Prime is amping up its free game offerings for the holiday season, giving five Devolver Digital titles in addition to its usual freebies.

If you’ve got Twitch Prime, then you’ve got five fresh new games coming to you free on Boxing Day.
Christmas is the best time of the year. Even if friends, family, and Santa all leave nothing under your Christmas tree, there are still major corporations handing out free games. In this case, Twitch Prime is giving away five games from Devolver Digital to all of its subscribers.
Those games are Enter the Gungeon, Ape Out, Witcheye, Heave Ho, and Gato Roboto. Enter the Gungeon is likely the most recognizable name on this list as it’s the award-winning roguelike bullet-hell dungeon crawler that has spawned years of expansions and will even get a sequel in the not-to-distant future.
In Enter the Gungeon, you enter a Gungeon filled with anthropomorphized bullets that shoot guns at you. No, I am not making this up. The whole game is filled with lunacy as guns fire bullets, t-shirts, cactuses, other guns, or just the letters “b u l l e t s.” You buy guns, shoot guns, and love guns in this very gun-focused top-down shooter.
The whole presentation is very Binding of Isaac, only much more difficult. The entire screen will at times be filled with projectiles. Your only defense is memorization of the level layout, enemy attacks, and your use of the dodge mechanic. As well as kicking over the occasional table in order to give you a tiny amount of cover.
Die, and you start over from the very beginning. Sucks, but that’s how roguelikes go. You’ll get a few power-ups to make your next run more likely to succeed, but it’s definitely the roguelike play-loop. If that’s not your thing, there are four other games to try.
Like Ape Out, where you play as a Gorilla escaping from various human installations, like zoos, government labs, or other strange human domiciles. While pretty much every human you meet has a gun, you yourself can’t actually use them since you’re a gorilla and guns are weird. But you can still grab those silly humans and they’ll just spray bullets wherever you point them, which is almost as good as shooting the guns yourself.
Ape Out features an all-percussion jazz soundtrack that gets louder the faster you kill. You don’t technically need to kill anyone – you can play the game like a gorilla-themed stealth title and you’ll still beat it. But then you wouldn’t get to hear crashing cymbals whenever you throw some dude out of a window.
All these Devolver games will be available starting December 26th. And if none of those five games tempt you, there are five more titles still available for the month of December, including Hue, Hover, Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter, Toejam & Earl: Back in the Groove, and Ski Lifts Go Wrong.
