With Elden Ring set to launch in a little under two weeks, FromSoftware has been revealing more of the character classes you’ll be able to play as. After revealing the Warrior, Enchanted Knight, Prophet, Champion and Bloody Wolf during the initial network test, the developer announced the Vagabond and the Hero last week. Most recently, we got a look at the Warrior and a rather strange looking Prisoner.

The devs have kept the ball rolling with the reveal of another pair of characters, the Bandit and the Astrologer. The former is a “dangerous bandit who strikes for weak points. Excels at ranged combat with bows.” The name and description suggests that he will be similar to a rogue class. He doesn’t appear to be wearing any armour, suggesting that he will work from the shadows and strike with his knife or bow when you least expect it.

The Astrologer is described as a “scholar who reads fate in the stars. Heir to the school of glintstone sorcery.” She too isn’t wearing any armour, just a robe with a pouch and some kind of amulet around her waist. Expectedly, her arsenal will include magic spells, casts, or summons of some sort.

That’s a total of ten characters revealed so far, and perhaps FromSoftware has more in the pipeline. However, it seems there’s more about Elden Ring that the devs have been keeping from us. The Lands Between which we saw in the network test may not actually be the entire playable area of the game.

In a recent preview, Kotaku Australia writer Junglist discovered that the actual map size might be as much as nine times bigger than what we’ve seen so far. “While checking the map, I pressed back on the joystick and the map zoomed out to a level which I don’t remember being a feature in the early multiplayer test,” Junglist wrote. “Suddenly there was a long, thin bar making up the world, and the known starting continent occupied the middle of it.”

In other FromSoftware news, the studio has announced that Dark Souls servers will stay offline until the launch of Elden Ring. This is being done to combat the dangerous exploit found in all three Dark Souls games which could allow total access to your PC.
