Yoru, the newest additional agent to Valorant’s recruits list. Yoru is an incredibly useful stealth-based character once his abilities are mastered. They take a little more ingenuity to pull off but have great results.

Yoru’s abilities are Gatecrash, Fakeout, Blindside, and Dimensional Drift. Each of the abilities can be used in multiple ways to grant the player more than one main playstyle for the new character. Here are what all of the abilities do, and the best ways to use them in combat.

Yoru’s Abilities in Valorant

Gatecrash – (E Ability)

  • Gatecrash in its simplest terms is a teleportation ability. Players can pick a location behind or in front of themselves to be able to teleport back to when activated. This makes it a great option for jumping out of hostile situations once they have been spotted, or sneak up on an enemy who hasn’t noticed them yet. Either way, as long as the teleport location stays out of danger’s way, the player will have a get out of jail free card with this ability.

Fakeout – (C Ability)

  • Fakeout is a distraction ability. It allows the player to craft a path for illusory footsteps. Alongside this, the footsteps will make sound based on their location. This can be great for getting opponents to reveal themselves by either jumping out to attack when they hear the steps or shoot from their hiding spot, revealing them to the player.

Blindside – (Q Ability)

  • Blindside is a flash-bang grenade that can only be activated by bouncing it off of walls. This becomes an incredibly useful item for stunning opponents in closed-off hallways or around corners. With it blinding the opponent it also makes them much easier to defeat as they blindly make their way through the room.

Dimensional Drift – (X Ability)

  • Dimensional Drift is Yoru’s ultimate ability. This ability grants the player a get out of jail free card with invisibility and invulnerability as Yoru switches into his own dimension with the mask. This is another ability that can allow him to get out of trouble if he’s trapped in a dangerous situation or sail freely into enemy territory to flank them from behind. While this does grant the player invulnerability, it also doesn’t allow him to attack anyone outside of his own dimension.

Yoru’s Playstyle and Group Comp in Valorant

As Yoru is a duelist, he can pair well with pretty much any team, as he’ll always be needed. He can easily be traded out with other characters like Reyna, Phoenix, Breach, and Skye. Yoru deals quite a bit of damage and is a stealthy character but he doesn’t have any healing abilities so he likely isn’t the one who should be leading any sort of team charge.

Instead, Yoru makes a great lurker, sneaking in and dealing damage to the enemy as a sort of tease, pulling the team in different directions. Alternatively, he can go to the opposite end of the map, solo from the rest of his team, and flank the enemy. This can be dangerous, however, with his stealthy abilities it can be done.
