EPICENTER 2019 has found its champion as Team Vitality bests mousesports 2-1 in the Grand Final.

Team Vitality have won EPICENTER 2019, taking home the CS:GO tournament’s $250,000 grand prize. Mousesports and Vitality met in the Grand Final after defeating Evil Geniuses and Heroic, respectively. The French squad lifted the trophy after taking down their multinational opponents, ending mouz’s streak of tournament victories.
The best-of-three series kicked off on Inferno, the map choice of Vitality. The French side took the initial pistol round, reaching a 3-0 lead on their offensive side. The first gun round allowed mousesports their first, thanks to efforts from in-game leader Finn “karrigan” Andersen. Vitality managed two more before mouz strung six rounds together, stealing the lead. Traded rounds closed out the half, mouz ending up 8-7.
Vitality took the second pistol round, and won the following two before mouz found their first T-side round. Rounds were traded until the score evened up at 11, where a 1v2 from Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut put Vitality in the lead. A late-game brawl saw mouz post map point first, though Vitality forced the game into overtime. Mouz once again found map point, finally taking the map 19-16.
Map two brought the series to Mirage, the map pick of mousesports. The French side raced to another 3-0 lead, though lost that advantage as mouz put up four straight rounds. The teams traded three-round strings as the half continued, an awe-inspiring 1v3 from David “frozen” Čerňanský keeping mousesports on top.
The international side ended the first half up 8-7, and maintained their lead with a defensive pistol round win. They converted the following rounds, putting them up 11-7. Mouz managed only one more as Vitality found their footing, the French lineup taking full control of the map. Down 8-12, Vitality put up eight consecutive rounds to win map two 16-12.
Nuke stood as the decider map, Vitality once again claiming a 3-0 lead. The first gun round allowed mousesports to put their first on the board, though any momentum quickly disappeared as the French side raced to a 10-1 lead on the defense. Finally getting a grasp on their offensive side, mousesports found the last four rounds of the half.
A pistol round win for Vitality seemed to seal mouz’s fate, though the international squad answered back with a force-buy victory. Three rounds from Vitality were matched by three rounds from mouz before the French side posted match point. Vitality then found the single round they needed, and secured the series victory with a 16-9 scoreline.
Team Vitality take home the EPICENTER 2019 championship title and the $250,000 grand prize. They will next compete in the BLAST Premier Spring Series in January of 2020.
