As a traditional turn-based RPG with a variety of gear to equip, each character in Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars has a weapon associated with them that provides the best offensive stats for that character. These are known within the game as legendary weapons or strongest weapons, and they’re relatively easy to find near the end of the game.
Finding the legendary weapon for each character is essential for optimising the damage output of your party and also unlocks an achievement or trophy for each of the legendary weapons you find. If you’re looking to get all the best weapons to perfect your party, they can all be found in quick succession following these simple steps.
The Protagonist’s Strongest Weapon – Phoenixflame
The legendary weapon for the player character, the sword Phoenixflame, is actually introduced in the very first town area your party will visit. Because of the price tag of 20,000 gold that comes with it, you’ll be unable to purchase the weapon when it’s first shown to you in chapter one. Instead, you’ll need to come back to the first town once you’ve earned more money. You’ll also be able to buy it straight away if you’re playing through the game in new game plus mode.
The Phoenixflame weapon is offered by the Suspicious Merchant NPC, who can be found directly beneath the general store in the first area outside the royal castle. Once you buy it for 20,000 gold, the protagonist will get a radical sword that will be able to do a lot of damage, and you’ll also receive the “Wielder of the Sacred Sword” achievement or trophy.
Ridis’ Strongest Weapon – Gold Lightning
During chapter seven, exploring the overworld of the Isle of Blight will eventually trigger a unique event that will allow you to find Ridis’ strongest weapon. This event is similar to others that you may have triggered on the first island: your party overhears a duo of thieves discussing where they have stored some stolen items. Tracking down a chest based on this information is how you’ll find Ridis’ weapon.
The thieves make a reference to the nose of the dragon, referring to the island’s unique shape. If you trace the outline of the dragon in the shape of the island, you might be able to notice the small forest areas that represent the nostrils in the dragon’s nose.
If you’ve already found the final area of the mausoleum, it’s just slightly south of that building (which represents the dragon’s eye). Head to the top of the forest and you should find a chest containing the Gold Lightning bow. In addition to the awesome bow, you’ll receive the “Gold Lover” achievement or trophy.
The remaining three legendary weapons are all in the same location, the final dungeon of the game that you’ll find at the end of chapter seven.
Bruno’s Strongest Weapon – Fists of Goliath
The first of the legendary weapons you’ll be able to find in the mausoleum can be found on level one of the building as you move through the building to reach the mausoleum depths. When you come across a room that starts revealing spike traps as you move through it, the southwestern corner of this room is where you’ll find the chest containing Bruno’s strongest weapon.
The chest can only be found by intentionally walking over several spike traps to reach the exact corner of the room where the chest is located. Each spike trap will do ten damage to the entire party, so make sure your health is at maximum, or have enough healing salves in your inventory to mitigate the damage. Once you find the chest you’ll receive the Fists of Goliath and unlock the “Prevailing Fist” achievement or trophy.
Mar’s Strongest Weapon – Oldfang
You’ll be able to find Mar’s legendary weapon soon after finding Bruno’s on the second level of the mausoleum. Just before the end of the long corridor that leads to level three, there is an opportunity to turn right just before the steps to find another chest containing a legendary weapon. This will give you the powerful claw weapon Oldfang and the “Divine Beast” achievement or trophy.
Melanie’s Strongest Weapon – Darklore
The final legendary weapon can be found on the third level of the mausoleum, just before you descend to the mausoleum depths and encounter the final boss. This chest can be found in a room that at first glance appears to have no entrance.
A secret passage into the room with the chest can be found by bumping your piece into all the cards on the passage’s northern wall. A card closer to the west side of this wall will reveal a secret passage into the room, allowing you to proceed right to the chest that contains Darklore, the strongest staff weapon available for Melanie. This will also unlock the “Successor of the Staff” achievement or trophy.
