The new method hackers are using to cause chaos in Warzone is forcing crashes with dev errors.
Warzone is getting pretty notorious for how just how many cheats, hacks, and exploits are being used by some of its playerbase, and it seems like it’s only getting worse. The latest Warzone trend for hackers appears to be using dev errors to force crashes for players.
Earlier on in the year, dev errors were an accidental issue plaguing Warzone and they would kick players from games randomly and cause crashes on all platforms, with the exact reasoning behind them not pinpointed. Raven Software released an update that aimed to fix Dev Error 6634, but it ended up introducing more into the game for a time.
Since then, dev errors have been fixed through more updates, although it seems like they might be about to make a brutal return. Warzone streamer Tommey shared a clip on his Twitter of a hacker using a dev error to crash his game.
The clip shows a player having joined Tommey’s party and sat in the pre-match screen with him. The person is clearly a hacker from the username made up of symbols that would usually be impossible to have in Warzone.
In the clip, the hacker asks Tommey and Trewren if they’d like to know anything about Warzone, to which they decline. The hacker then says, “Not even like how I’m doing this?” before causing the game screen to freeze up completely due to causing a dev error. We don’t see the dev error from Tommey’s side, but it’s confirmed by Trewren that is what happened.
Tommey also Tweeted about the incident saying, “This user just joined our lobby, said hello and then gave me a dev error? Please don’t tell me it’s a new thing where players can force dev errors”.
Although this might seem like a big cause for concern for Warzone players, it’s not a widely reported issue yet and has only happened to Tommey. It’s likely due to the fact that the hacker was in their squad, which means it should be a very specific problem.
