Set video from Westworld season 4 shows someone who looks like the supposedly dead Dolores walking down a street filled with corpses. Season 3 of Westworld ended on a seemingly tragic note as Evan Rachel Wood’s character appeared to have erased herself from existence after taking out the evil quantum computer Rehoboam.

But of course if fans of Westworld have learned anything about the show it’s that no one’s ever really gone. Indeed Wood’s continued participation on Westworld has already been teased by showrunner Jonathan Nolan despite Dolores’ apparent demise. One popular Westworld fan theory explains all this by holding that Dolores herself is really gone, but Wood returns as an entirely new character. Another theory says that since Dolores made multiple copies of herself and imprinted one of them in Lawrence (as was revealed in the season 3 finale), then a new Dolores could be built, allowing Wood to continue on playing the character as she was. This Dolores resurrection would however go against assurances from producers and cast members that the character’s season 3 death was indeed real.

Trying to guess what is coming on Westworld is of course a fool’s errand and indeed the show’s creators positively revel in staying one step ahead of fan theories. But a clue is out there that Dolores could be back in some form, as set video has emerged showing someone who looks a lot like Wood’s character walking down a street strewn with dead bodies. The clip was posted to TikTok by user mickmicknyc.

The new clip indeed shows an actor dressed in Dolores’ familiar Western costume (or one that is very close to it) walking down a New York City street while actors lie on the ground playing dead bodies. It’s impossible to see the actor’s face clearly however, so it can’t be confirmed that this is Wood herself back as a very familiar incarnation of Dolores. Of course since this is Westworld, the sequence being filmed could be anything from a flashback to a dream to a computer-induced hallucination to any number of other crazy things that probably won’t make sense until the show airs (and may not make sense even then). It’s also possible the footage being filmed isn’t for the show at all but is only for a promo.

Given the way Westworld season 3 played out there’s of course a strong argument to be made that Dolores should stay dead in order to not cheapen her act of sacrifice. But there’s another argument to be made that Wood’s character is central to the show’s success and if Westworld is going to continue, then it’s necessary to have Wood as Dolores onboard, even if it means undoing past storytelling. In fact, if Westworld has proven anything it’s that nothing in the story ever truly is what it seems to be, and almost anything can be undone with the use of some sci-fi plot contrivance or other. That being the case, it wouldn’t be shocking at all to see the old Dolores back in Westworld season 4, despite assurances that the character is gone forever.
