The first Godzilla vs Kong trailer is confirmed to release on January 24, but what time exactly will it be online? Adam Wingard’s Godzilla vs Kong has been six years in the making; it was first announced in 2015 shortly after Legendary Pictures moved Kong: Skull Island over to Warner Bros., which meant combining their 2014 Godzilla film with King Kong’s origin story. The studios promised an epic showdown between the two Titans in Godzilla vs Kong, which was originally supposed to release in early 2020.
Unfortunately, after Godzilla: King of the Monsters released in May 2019, Warner Bros. pushed back Godzilla vs Kong’s date from March to November 2020 in order to make sure it met their expectations before being shown to audiences – and that delay came after the film was already moved up from May to March 2020. Then, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Godzilla vs Kong was forced to vacate its November release, landing in May 2021. But because Warner Bros. is releasing their films simultaneously on HBO Max and both WarnerMedia divisions are looking for content to put out, Godzilla vs Kong is now releasing in March, with its first trailer coming this Sunday.
Legendary has announced that the first Godzilla vs Kong trailer will release online on Sunday, January 24. While they haven’t specified a time, it’s fair to say the trailer will be posted at 9 am PST, 12 pm EST, and 5 pm GMT. This is standard for all Warner Bros. movies and was the case for Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ trailers as well. The Godzilla vs Kong trailer is also expected to be posted on all social accounts – Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram simultaneously, so fans can watch it anywhere at anytime after 9 am PST.
It’s unclear exactly what will be shown in the Godzilla vs Kong trailer, but given that Legendary and Warner Bros. have been teasing a brawl between the two monsters on (or around) a naval ship, that particular scene should get some attention in the first trailer. Furthermore, there’s a lot that remains unknown about the story. In addition to being a fight between Godzilla and Kong, the film is also meant to explore the Titans some more, with Monarch getting more involved in the Hollow Earth. But what comes from their discoveries is still a mystery.
While this is the first Godzilla vs Kong trailer to release, despite the studio having wrapped production on the movie almost two years ago, it certainly won’t be the last. Godzilla vs Kong is now releasing in theaters and on HBO Max in just two months, for Warner Bros. will have to up their marketing campaign significantly in order to get as many eyes on the blockbuster film as possible.
