Wheel of Time episode 5 teased the choice Nynaeve (Zoë Robins) will have to make about her Aes Sedai color. If and when the Wisdom of the Two Rivers officially becomes an Aes Sedai, she’ll have to choose between one of the White Tower’s seven colored Ajahs: Blue, Red, Yellow, Gray, White, Brown, and Green. The Ajahs are how the Aes Sedai are divided in Wheel of Time’s world.

What Nynaeve did with the One Power in Wheel of Time episode 4’s ending has piqued the interest of the Aes Sedai–and for good reason. Given the potential she possesses, it’s no surprise that the Aes Sedai are already expecting her to join their organization. In Wheel of Time episode 5, Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood) was so uncharacteristically friendly to Nynaeve that it was clear she had an interest in her. Her conversation with Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) confirmed she wants her for the Red Ajah. Considering Nynaeve’s One Power capabilities, the Red Sisters are unlikely to be the only ones looking to recruit her in the future. Nynaeve could receive visits from multiple Ajahs as the story continues.

Moiraine and Liandrin hinted at the decision Nynaeve will eventually reach in the show. In the episode, she told Liandrin that the Yellow Ajah are sure to be after her in light of what happened in the cave. In the Wheel of Time books, Nynaeve did ultimately pick Yellow, the branch of the Aes Sedai that specializes in the Healing Talent of the One Power. Since Healing is what Nynaeve does best when it comes to the One Power, it’s the choice that makes the most sense for her character. This will allow her to further strengthen her greatest skill. Healing is something she could learn from the other Ajahs as well, but mending injuries and curing sicknesses are the areas that Yellow Sisters excel at in Wheel of Time.

How Amazon’s Wheel of Time show is currently handling the character is indicative of her following the same path as her book counterpart. Healing Moiraine’s injury and saving everyone in the cave with the One Power are signs that Healing will play a significant role in Nynaeve’s story. Her aligning with the Yellow Ajah would be a fitting continuation of that. In the books, Nynaeve’s skill with Healing leads to some massive, game-changing developments that contribute greatly to the Dragon Reborn’s fight against the Dark One.

Though Liadrin wants Nynaeve to join the Reds, she acknowledged the inevitable in the episode when she said that the Yellow Sisters would be “desperate” to get their hands on her. While becoming a full-fledged Aes Sedai is a process, it may not take long at all for the Yellow Ajah to seek her out. If so, her Aes Sedai color choice could be made rather early in the series. Once it happens, Nynaeve will be one step closer to becoming the most powerful and talented Healer in Wheel of Time.
