Boosted arrives in Apex Legends on August 18. With it comes a brand new Legend, a new gun, new character and weapon skins, and some big changes to World’s Edge. We got a lot of ground to cover before Tuesday, so let’s get to it.

Rampart

When Does Apex Legends Season 6 Begin

Easily the biggest deal of Season 6 is the addition of a new Legend: Rampart. She’s a gunsmith–that is, someone who makes and repairs guns for a living. In her backstory trailer, we find out that she’s friendly with a lot of the folks already in Apex Legends, but she’s also got a past. A mysterious woman in a mask comes to bust up her business, leading to Apex Games founder Blisk to invite her to take part in the games.

Rampart’s kid isn’t entirely understood yet, but the gameplay trailers reveal that she’s got the ability to call down a massive chaingun that’s protected by a shimmering shield. Players will have to shoot from above or to the sides in order to get around the shield, which seems to be impenetrable from the front.

Volt

A new gun is also coming called the Volt. We’ve known about this gun for a while as it’s been shown in datamines since Season 3. It’s an SMG from Titanfall 2 that has a built-in suppressor and is deadly at short to medium range, but not so great for long-range engagements.

World’s End Map Changes

World’s End has been completely overhauled in Season 6. There’s a new tunnel connecting Survey Camp and Skyhook that goes through the mountain and has a ton of loot inside. The new Launch Site area now dominates the lava zone and likewise has a bunch of loot inside the facility. Countdown replaces the Drill Site with a fortified structure, and Staging now sits in the center of the map.

There’s also a bunch of blast walls that can be raised around Launch Site, Countdown, and Staging, and there’s no more train. Instead, the tunnels that used to allow the train to pass have been converted into battlefield locations with loot and cover.

The Rest

The recently revealed gameplay trailer showcases a bunch of new skins for weapons and Legends alike and a brand new crafting system from so-called Replicator Stations. Blisk is also making a lot more of an appearance recently, which might be due to “something big on the horizon.”

We’re guessing it’s going to be a trip to a new planet judging by the spaceship at Launch Site, but we’ll have to wait and see.
