The Witcher is more popular than ever before, and some fans are expressing interest in getting LEGO versions of the RPG games.
Since the release of the Netflix show of the same name, The Witcher franchise has received an influx of interest from both those brand new to the series and existing fans who were brought back by its re-introduction to the zeitgeist. Geralt and co. have entered into the public eye arguably more prominently than ever, and simply put, people online are talking about The Witcher quite possibly more than ever before. Recently, some of that online discussion has been about, of all things, LEGO Witcher video games.
Much of this discussion is around two highly-upvoted Reddit posts in The Witcher subreddit, which encompasses the books, games, TV show, and presumably the weird 2001 movie adaptation.
The first of these is a mock-up of what the cover art for a LEGO-fied Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would look like by user allbrom995. The piece is meant to replicate the existing box art for the Witcher 3, this time featuring a LEGO Geralt. While most of the ensuing comments below the post are LEGO-based Witcher puns, one thread discusses the viability of a LEGO Witcher game. Some Reddit users are excited by the prospect, while others are convinced that the game’s adult content would prohibit the idea from ever seeing the light of day.
Another post, by user rachar901, paints an even more vivid picture of just what that LEGO Witcher game might look like, with an example of a medieval town scene and mini figurine versions of the series’ central cast of characters. The post’s title also suggests a pan-Witcher LEGO game, encompassing the stories of all three entries in the Witcher video game series. The post’s comments are predominantly an expanded discussion of whether or not The LEGO Group would ever be open to a Witcher adaptation, including an (unnecessarily) detailed discussion of how some of the series’ NSFW scenes might be acted by LEGO minifigs.
These aren’t the first talks of a LEGO Witcher either — all the way back in August 2019, months before Netflix’s show was released, German LEGO builder Christian Schmidt (@drzarkow) posted a few real-life custom Witcher 3 LEGO characters to Instagram. Which is to say, it seems inevitable now that fans will continue to build up the LEGO Witcher-verse, whether LEGO Geralt ever ends up packaged into an official LEGO video game or not.
