Wizards of the Coast has announced delays for the last two major Dungeons & Dragons releases of the year.

Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons is a sourcebook that adds a lot of content and support for the dragons themselves, introducing Gem Dragons to Fifth Edition, new ancestries for the Dragonborn species, draconic subclasses for rangers and monks, and a “complete dragon bestiary” full of everything from dragon gods through to their minions.

Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos, on the other hand, is the next crossover between D&D and Magic the Gathering. Set in the magical school of Strixhaven, which debuted earlier this year in the Magic set Strixhaven: School of Mages, it fills a similar role of the previous MTG crossovers of Ravnica and Theros.

Part sourcebook, part adventure, it introduces the world to Dungeon Masters, its new mechanics such as the Owlin race, new spells and feats, and even potential romances with NPCs. It also has an introductory story for groups to play through that spans multiple years as players progress through the school and choose one of the five distinct colleges. Strixhaven will be fully compatible with Fifth Edition rules, and can bolt onto your existing campaigns with no issue.

Both Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons and Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos are being delayed in both digital and print editions, according to a tweet from the official D&D account. Fizban’s Treasure of Dragons is being bumped from October 19 to October 26, while Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos is getting a slightly longer delay, going from November 11 to December 7. Wizards of the Coast didn’t give a reason for the delay, simply saying in a tweet it is due to “goblin related issues”.

Though the tweet comes from the North American D&D account, it appears as though other regions will also either have delays. Wizards of the Coast has said that “additional information on both releases in other territories will be coming soon”, implying elsewhere may be facing further delays as well.

This year’s been very busy for D&D. Aside from the recent release of The Wild Beyond the Witchlight campaign and the Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft sourcebook, we also had the adventure anthology Candlekeep Mysteries, the video game Dark Alliance, and a full crossover set with Magic the Gathering with Adventures in the Forgotten Realms.
