Diana Prince will be more powerful than before in Wonder Woman 1984 as she’s set to have these new powers and abilities. Following her introduction in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Gal Gadot’s DC hero became a worldwide phenomenon after the release of Wonder Woman in 2017. Even though she’s appeared in Justice League since then, it is Wonder Woman 1984 that will continue Patty Jenkins’ story for the Amazonian goddess.

Instead of doing so in the present day though, Wonder Woman’s sequel will be set in 1984. The movie will reunite audiences with Diana close to 40 years after her last solo adventure, with Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) and Barbara Ann Minerva aka Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) scheduled to cause her trouble. Diana’s differences with these DC villains will come at a time when Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) has unexplainably returned to her life. All of these factors sets the stage for Wonder Woman 1984 to be an intriguing continuation of Diana’s arc, all while maintaining some continuity to her previous appearances in the DCEU.

Not only will Wonder Woman 1984 progress the evolution of Diana as a character, but it will also be where audiences learn more about what she is capable of as a hero. Since she was born on Themyscira as the daughter of Hippolyta and Zeus, Diana is more powerful than the average Amazon. She has enhanced physical attributes like her fellow Amazons, which include super strength, speed, durability, and near immortality. Diana has also been trained since a young age in various forms of combat, with bow and arrows and swords (like the God Killer or Sword of Athena) among the weapons she’s mastered.

But, Wonder Woman also showed how special she is. Diana was created to be the God Killer and lived up to that title at the end of the film when she defeated Ares. She is also able to control divine energy and weaponize it through her Bracelets of Submission. In addition to these gifts, Diana has also used the Lasso of Hestia throughout her time as a hero. These latter accessories will still be with Diana in Wonder Woman 1984, but details and rumors about the film point to other abilities that she could debut. Here are all the new powers and abilities Diana will have in Wonder Woman 1984.

Golden Eagle Armor

Wonder Woman is best known for wearing some variation of her red, blue, and gold suit, but that will change in the sequel. Early images from the movie teased what the first trailer later confirmed: Diana will dawn the Golden Eagle Armor in Wonder Woman 1984 for the very first time. After fans first saw Gal Gadot suited up in just the full body armor, footage from the movie confirmed that the Golden Eagle Armor Diana wears in Wonder Woman 1984 will have the wings as well. The use of the armor doesn’t grant Diana with any new powers, but it does give her added protection and teases the significance of the threat she is facing.

The Golden Eagle Armor was introduced in DC comics during the 1996 Kingdom Come event when Lex Luthor assembled the villains of Earth to fight against the Justice League. Knowing that war was the inevitable outcome, Diana took the Golden Eagle Armor from her room on the Watchtower base to signal that she was ready to play the part of a soldier and go to war. Wonder Woman 1984 is unlikely to deal with such a plot since most of DC’s heroes aren’t active at this point in the timeline, but the implications of Diana using the Golden Eagle Armor are tremendous.

Improved Lasso Combat

The trailers for Wonder Woman 1984 have also made it clear that Diana is even more accomplished in combat, specifically when it comes to using the Lasso of Truth. This has been the trustiest of weapons for Diana in the DCEU whether she is the heat of battle or needs to get information out of someone. But for Wonder Woman 1984, Diana’s skill level with the lasso has clearly increased. She has already been shown spinning the lasso to knock enemies back, grab hold of objects nearby, and use it to swing. These heightened skills will surely come in hand as Diana battles countless enemies in the sequel, whether that takes place in the White House or the mall.

Lightning Swinging

Building off of Diana leveling up her use of the Lasso of Truth, Wonder Woman 1984 is also set to introduce an ability that hasn’t even been featured in the comics or any other movie. The trailers for Wonder Woman 1984 showed Diana swinging from lightning bolts as Spider-Man would from buildings. She is able to grab hold of these bolts of lightning using the Lasso of Truth and then swing towards another nearby bolt. As the daughter of Zeus – the god of the sky, thunder, and lightning – and considering Diana’s own ability to harness lightning, this is a natural evolution of her powers. Whether or not she is the one calling the lightning bolts down remains to be seen, but Diana has found a new and electrifying mode of transportation to use in Wonder Woman 1984.

Invisible Jet

Furthermore, there is a chance that Wonder Woman 1984 will also be where Diana gets control of her invisible jet. Fans have been hoping that the invisible jet will be included in the film for some time, so much so that speculation led to the belief that a set video revealed Diana piloting it. While that footage was instead for a sequence of the Amazon running at superfast speeds, the trailers for Wonder Woman 1984 teased the invisible jet could still make an appearance. Diana and Steve are shown sitting in the cockpit of a jet of some kind watching fireworks explode around them. Since the outside of the jet is not shown, it is plausible that we’ve seen the interior of the jet prior to the plane appearing in full form during the movie.

Flight

Audiences may also see Diana fly properly in Wonder Woman 1984. She has already been shown jumping great distances or into the sky – and even levitated a bit at the end of Wonder Woman – but the sequel could be where she actually flies. Promotional materials for the movie teased that flight is one of Diana’s new powers. Although Wonder Woman couldn’t fly when she first appeared in DC comics, that has changed over time. She was able to glide with the air currents during the Silver Age and gained the power of flight from Hermes in the New 52. Now, it appears that Wonder Woman 1984 could give Diana the power of flight in some form too.
