There’s good news for Star Wars fans as Xbox One’s latest batch of Backwards Compatibility adds a ton of adventures from that galaxy far, far away.
As next-gen consoles move forward with their flashy titles, gaming companies are still cashing in on retro titles and the thrill of playing forgotten games from a bygone era. Microsoft teased that an announcement about its Backwards Compatibility would arrive on April 10, and now avid gamers know exactly what to expect. The Xbox One has already dusted off 13 games from the past, but it sounds like a lot more coming very soon.

According to Microsoft (via IGN), eight games will be arriving on April 17, followed by 11 more on April 26. Star Wars gamers are in for a real treat thanks to the April 26 release containing six fan-favorites like Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Battlefront. The full list of games can be found below.
April 17:
- Blinx: The Time Sweeper
- Breakdown
- Conker: Live & Reloaded
- The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind
- Hunter: The Reckoning
- Jade Empire
- Panzer Dragoon Orta
- SSX 3
April 26:
- Destroy All Humans!
- Full Spectrum Warrior
- Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
- MX Unleashed
- Panzer Elite Action: Fields of Glory (Europe only)
- Star Wars: Battlefront
- Star Wars: Battlefront 2
- Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
- Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter
- Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords
- Star Wars: Republic Commando
All of the above will work by either disc or download through the Microsoft Store, so expect these titles to get a bit of a boost in the second-hand circuits and on auction sites. Annoyingly, five of the titles had already been spoiled ahead of time on the Xbox Marketplace, but at least there were plenty of other surprises to keep players happy. With a real push on LucasArts, the Star Wars games will join the lonely Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic which was released in October 2017.
The news doesn’t end there though. The gaming giant also announced a new wave of games that will be getting a boost thanks to some Xbox One X enhancements. Among the updates, another Star Wars entry gets a new look with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Elsewhere, Darksiders, Gears of War 2, Portal 2, Red Dead Redemption, and Sonic Generations all get some tinkering under the hood. With Rockstar unveiling Red Dead Redemption 2 later this year, the timing couldn’t be better to remind fans why the original is so great.
Updating games is one thing, but the Backwards Compatibility is undoubtedly the big hook with Microsoft this month. Considering that only 13 games are currently backward compatible, to more than double that in just over a week shows that the Xbox One is committed to its nostalgic promise of resurrecting great games for the console. Moving ahead of its rivals the PS4 and the Nintendo Switch, Microsoft proves that it won’t simply move with the times and forget some of its legacy games.
