New Pokémon Snap brought back one of Nintendo’s most memorable classic spin-off games. Much like with the original Pokémon Snap, many fans may find themselves taking some pretty aesthetically pleasing photos of their favorite Pokémon and might want a way to keep those pictures. While taking screenshots of the Lental region via the Nintendo Switch’s share service is always possible, it’s also possible to print out photos, just like with the original Pokémon Snap.
Pokémon Snap Stations were kiosks that were placed in certain locations depending on the region. These stations allowed users to bring in their Pokémon Snap or Pokémon Colleseum cartridges and print out any photos they took in-game. This feature has made its way to the game that many call a fresh revival for the Pokémon series, though this time users will need to purchase the Fujifilm Instax Mini Link Smartphone Printer.
If players want to print out their New Pokémon Snap pictures, they’ll first need to purchase the somewhat expensive Fujifilm Smartphone Printer, which has a limited edition version specifically made for New Pokémon Snap. Though that one has been quickly selling out, it doesn’t appear that the limited edition version of the printer is required for use with a Nintendo Switch. The Fujifilm Smartphone Printer can send photos to the Switch via the printer’s smartphone app, though it does involve a few steps.
To start, users will want to download the Instax Mini Link app on their smartphones. They’ll then want to either take a screenshot of what they want to print from the Switch or select one from the system’s photo album. From there, users will want to select the “Send to Smartphone” option, which will display a QR code that they can scan with the printer’s app.
When users launch the smartphone app, they’ll be able to pick from one of three different Nintendo-themed designs, including New Pokémon Snap, Animal Crossing, and Super Mario Bros. Tapping “Switch Direct Print” near the bottom of the screen will allow users to scan the QR code created by their Switch to link the system with the app. Users will have to confirm that they want to send the image before the screenshot is sent to their phone.
Once their Switch screenshot appears in the Fujifilm printer’s app, users can do some basic zooming and cropping edits to their photos and apply some Nintendo-themed frames. From there, simply hitting the print button near the bottom of the screen will send their screenshot to the printer. Users should get a credit-card-sized print-out of their screenshot, which is slightly bigger than the stamp-sized photos that the old Snap Stations created.
