Seto Kaiba ha no chill. He walked a fine line between being a hero and an outright villain and served as the anime’s main ant-hero. Arrogant, vain, and powerful, Kaiba always wanted to get his way and spent most of his waking time looking after the interests of his mega empire, KaibaCorp, and for new opportunities to defeat his archenemy, Yugi Muto.

Kaiba talked a big game, and most of the time, he had the means to back his words up. He never watched his tongue; on the contrary, he let it run loose. And he delivered burn after burn at the expense of the main heroes, mocking their wholesomeness, optimistic spirit, and tendency to save the world.

10 “My First Words Were Neutron Blast Attack”

During the anime’s last arc, Kaiba travels back to the past and meets the Big Bad, Zork, face to face. However, being Kaiba, he doesn’t believe the monster is real. Instead, he insists it’s just another hologram like the ones his company excels at making.

Kaiba even gets sassy with Zork, telling it he isn’t afraid of it. “I’ve been smacking around virtual monsters like you ever since I could talk!” He even states that his first words were “Neutron Blast Attack,” a moment that ranks as one of his most extra.

Noah’s Virtual World is a divisive arc in the series. Some fans enjoyed it, while others, like Kaiba, consider it “a complete waste of time and effort.” Still, Noah was a competent and somewhat threatening villain who even bested Kaiba in a duel.

While watching the home videos that prove Noah is Gozaburo’s biological son, Kaiba can’t stop himself from mocking the other’s clothes. The line is spiteful and unnecessary, proving that Kaiba knows he’s a jerk and loves it.

8 “Give Him A Good Seat For The Next Duel”

The KC Grand Championship arc follows Zigfried von Schroeder’s attempts to destroy Kaiba’s reputation. Zigfried is entertaining to watch but is a rather incompetent villain who Kaiba easily beats.

During their duel before the Championship’s finals, Zigfried gives it his all while Kaiba barely breaks a sweat. In the end, not even Zigfried’s Valkyries can get him the win, and Kaiba comes out on top. He leaves the arena, telling his employee, Roland, to get Zigfried a good seat for the final duel. He then laughs at his commentary, finishing the whole thing with a “Ha, funny.”

7 “That’s The First Sensible Thing He’s Said All Week”

Leon faces Yugi during the Championship finals, revealing he’s Zigfried’s younger brother. Yugi, of course, wins, even after Zigfried highjacks the duel, trying to ensure Leon’s victory.

Realizing there is nothing else to do, Zigfried falls to his knees and admits defeat, claiming he’ll “never beat Kaiba.” Wanting to rub even more salt in the wound, Kaiba smiles and agrees with him for the first time. More than one fan felt sad for the von Schroeder brothers, especially Leon, who deserved a chance to have a proper duel with Yugi.

6 “Stop Saving The World And Get A Hobby”

Kaiba is notoriously cynical about the many supernatural events that occur around him. He refuses to believe in destiny, no matter how many times he receives proof that it is, in fact, a real thing. He remains unconvinced of his role in the ancient story, even after traveling back to the past and seeing himself in his previous life.

This quote perfectly sums up Kaiba’s character. He says it to Yugi after the spiky-haired King of Duels tries to explain the world-ending stakes. And just like Yugi never gets tired of insisting on the existence and importance of destiny, Kaiba never stops denying it.

5 “So, Take Whatever Dignity You Have Left And Get Lost!”

Kaiba has no kind words after beating Zigfried during their duel. On the contrary, he goes out of his way to further humiliate his pink-haired enemy. Kaiba seems to particularly enjoy doing so in front of the hundreds of people around them, who watch Zifgried’s defeat in shock.

When the older von Schroeder tells him that things aren’t over between them, Kaiba tells him that his Life Points hit zero and “that’s about as over as it gets.” To finish things off, he tells Zigfried to take his remaining dignity and leave, making the audience gasp at his ruthless behavior.

4 “I Can’t Believe The Little Barking Chihuahua Already Has 10 Star Chips”

Every Yu-Gi-Oh fan knows that Kaiba hates Joey Wheeler. He goes out of his way to humiliate poor Joey, whom he considers a “third-rate duelist.” For his part, Joey dislikes Kaiba’s pretentious attitude but doesn’t have the young heir’s talent with words.

During the Duelist Kingdom arc, Kaiba travels to the island to recover Mokuba’s soul. Pegasus instructs him to defeat Yugi if he wants his brother, prompting Kaiba to taunt Yugi until the King of Games accepts his challenge. He also takes the opportunity to mock Joey, suggesting he only got his star chips because Yugi “threw (him) a bone.”

3 “Yugi Can’t Duel His Way Out Of A Paper Bag”

During Yugi and Atem’s ceremonial duel, Kaiba gets angry at the discovery that two separate entities are living inside the young duelist. He claims it’s unfair and that Yugi is unworthy of his King of Games title and stays and watches the duel only to see who of the two entities is the true duelist.

When Atem seemingly gets the upper hand on Yugi, Kaiba decides to leave, claiming “only one of the two Yugi twins inherited the dueling skills, so why even watch?” He, of course, ends up staying and even acknowledges Yugi is the King of Games after the young boy defeats all three of Atem’s Egyptian Gods.

2 “And Anyone Who’s Late For Registration Will Be Disqualified. Mokuba, Make Sure Wheeler’s Late”

Kaiba’s pettiness knows no boundaries. During the Grand Championship arc, he states that the registration process is vital, and anyone late will get disqualified. He then instructs Mokuba to “make sure Wheeler’s late,” to Joey’s visible anger and Mokuba’s entertainment.

The abridged series has an even more hilarious take on this line, with Mokuba naming all the things that would be made complicated by “making sure Wheeler’s late” and Kaiba shooting him down, insisting on ensuring Joey’s tardiness.

1 “You’re A Third-Rate Duelist With a Fourth-Rate Deck”

Perhaps Kaiba’s most infamous quote isn’t a part of the original dub. Instead, Kaiba says it in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links, a 2017 digital collectible card game for iOS, Android, and Windows. The quote is part of Kaiba’s many lines, spoken when he wins a duel.

Many fans think this quote refers to Joey. Indeed, it seems like the kind of thing Kaiba would say to describe the blonde duelist. Alas, it’s just a generic line to refer to any duelist Kaiba beats in the game, but as far as quotes go, it’s one of his absolute best.
