Enterprising Breath of the Wild players exploring the game’s southern jungle could have a chance of seeing some very strange dragon behavior. Zelda fans have been treated well this year, between the release of Skyward Sword HD and the promise of Breath of the Wild 2 later on. But people are still enjoying Nintendo’s latest original release in the franchise, which first debuted in 2017.

The dragon Farosh appears in the Faron Region in Breath of the Wild. Like Breath of the Wild’s other dragons, it circles the skies during different parts of the day, flinging elemental energy to deter protagonist Link. The dragons can’t be killed, but when shot with an arrow they’ll release rare dragon parts that can be used in potions and for upgrading armor. They only release one part at a time, so it’s best to try and get a part whenever a dragon is around.

This seems to be what Reddit user veroman001 was intending to do in a video they posted, but unexpectedly Farosh got a weird back workout as a side effect. Farosh behaves normally for a little while but suddenly starts bending unnaturally, making it look like the dragon is getting its spine rearranged. Thankfully, the impromptu chiropractic doesn’t seem to cause Farosh any harm. And a dragon part is still released for veroman001 to acquire. It appears as though the glitch occurs when veroman001 shoots Farosh with an extra arrow, causing it to bend around the arrow as if it’s an obstacle in the environment.

By comparison to some releases by AAA developers, in-house Nintendo games are notoriously stable. They usually release with few bugs on launch and sometimes don’t even require day 1 patches. That makes events like this Farosh glitch exceedingly rare, and all the more exciting to behold when recorded. It’s especially strange to see unintentional behavior regarding the dragons. They’re depicted in-game as paragons of divine grace, so seeing Farosh’s back twist out of control is a significant contrast to their common image.

Moreover, seeing fans continuing to share their Breath of the Wild clips is encouraging, considering the growing age of the game. There’s still a huge fanbase for Breath of the Wild ahead of its sequel. Even though it was a significant departure from the Zelda formula, and many people have returned to an older edition in the series with Skyward Sword HD, there’s a lot of love going around for Breath of the Wild. Even if it’s for glitches that tarnish the game’s lighthearted immersion.
