Officially called the Vanguard Squadron X-wing, this glider can be yours for free, allowing you to drop into the battle royale while hanging from a classic Star Wars spacecraft. If you’re a console gamer or don’t want to buy Star Wars: Squadrons through Epic, Fortnite is also offering the glider in its in-game item shop.
The promotion is just one of countless collaborations that have been hosted in Fortnite since its 2017 launch. This is already the third time Fortnite has featured Star Wars alone, all while the game is in the middle of its Marvel superhero-themed Chapter 2 Season 4.
Given the game’s popularity, it makes sense why so many brands are looking to collaborate with Epic. Even if the X-wing glider is one measly cosmetic item, the promotion gives Star Wars: Squadrons exposure to millions of players who may not have been interested in it otherwise. Star Wars: Squadrons is aiming to drop on October 2 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game will run for $40, featuring fixed first-person dogfights in the classic Star Wars universe.
