Marvel’s Avengers’ Spider-Man Will Have No Connection To Insomniac’s Web-Slinger
The Spider-Man that will swing into Marvel’s Avengers in 2021 will have no link to the one created by Insomniac in 2018.

Despite Spider-Man’s exclusivity to the PlayStation version of Marvel’s Avengers, the hero will have no connection to Insomniac’s Spidey.
Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics’ announcement that Spider-Man will be a PlayStation exclusive to Marvel’s Avengers has caused quite the stir. As has been the case in the movie world, Sony’s ownership of the web-slinger is causing problems for gamers. It means anyone planning to play the game on Xbox and PC will not get to use Spider-Man, and also means the hero cannot be a part of the game’s main thread.
Since the dust has somewhat settled following the controversial announcement, and there’s nothing we can do to change it, it’s time to look ahead. PlayStation exclusive or not, Spider-Man becoming an in-game Avenger is pretty cool. What’s more, we’re looking forward to seeing how the game interlinks with what Insomniac has done with the red and blue-clad hero.
Except that isn’t happening either. Granted, it may have been stretch to think it would be the same version of Spider-Man appearing in both games since the titles are developed by different studios. However, we were hopeful since Sony decided to flaunt its Spider-Man ownership. Crystal Dynamics has confirmed the contrary, stating that there will be no overlap between their version of Spidey and the very popular Insomniac version.
Crystal Dynamics is aiming to create a Spider-Man closer to the version portrayed by Tom Holland in the MCU. A younger, teenage Peter Parker who is brash and still learning how to harness and deal with the power he has been blessed with. Those who have played Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 will know that version of Parker is slightly older. More like the Tobey Maguire/Andrew Garfield versions of the hero.
All of that being said, Insomniac is preparing to reveal its own younger version of Spider-Man on the world in the form of Miles Morales. The follow-up to its first game will focus on the new Spidey, and if he is anything like the version of Morales in the comics and Into The Spider-Verse, he will be a very different Spider-Man to both versions of video game Spidey. The video game world is about to be flooded with Spider-Men, and we don’t hate it.
