While playing Dicey Dungeons you’ll get to choose from a decent selection of characters. You can brute force your way through the game with The Warrior, steal enemy skills with The Thief, or rely on the random number generator that is The Robot’s slot machine. All in all, there are five classes that each have their own unique move set and gameplay mechanics that make the battles feel completely different.
You might think that five classes is more than enough, but there’s actually a sixth unlockable class on top of that. The Jester is a character that you’ll encounter early on in Dicey Dungeons and you can eventually play as him. Here’s how to unlock him.
How To Unlock The Jester
Initially, The Jester will appear to be the sidekick of the villainous Lady Luck. Whenever you successfully get through a run as one of the other classes, he’ll appear afterward to help you spin the wheel to win your price (which, of course, you never win.) He also shows up in the dungeons as an enemy.
When you fight him, his equipment will constantly change from turn to turn, which will makes it hard to strategize against him. Depending on what floor you run into him, he has a variety of attacks that can blind, curse, confuse, shock, burn, freeze or weaken you. He can also lock your dice and do a whole lot of damage.
You’ll first encounter The Jester on the first floor of the dungeon. When you defeat him, you’ll next see him as an enemy on the second floor. He’ll continue to move down a floor each time you beat him in a battle until he reaches the sixth floor and becomes the final boss of your run.
This is the key to unlocking him as a playable character. Defeat The Jester five times and then beat him when he’s a boss, and he’ll declare that he’s sick of being Lady Luck’s lackey. He’ll offer to help you escape and will turn into a die himself. From that point on, you’ll have the option to choose him as a class for any of your dungeon runs.
How To Play The Jester
The Jester’s main gameplay mechanic revolves around a deck of cards. Each time you use one of his moves, it gets swapped out for the next card in his deck. This makes him one of the more complex classes to play as his equipment changes frequently.
You can see the next three cards that are coming up next so you can plan your moves ahead of time. When you pick up a new piece of equipment, it gets added to his deck. You can also remove unwanted cards by destroying them in the shop.
His limit break is called Snap and it allows you to instantly play any matching cards. So if you have two or more Bop cards in your hand, you can play them right away without using any of your dice. That’s why it’s an effective strategy to try to get as many duplicates of cards in your deck as you can to make this limit break as deadly as possible.
If manage your deck efficiently by searching for pairs and destroying any useless cards, you can turn The Jester into one of the most powerful characters in the game. Good luck escaping from the dungeon!
