Warner Bros. unveils a new trailer for the Will Smith-led Williams sisters biopic King Richard featuring a new original song from Beyoncé. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, the film centers on Richard Williams, father of tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams, as he utilizes unconventional methods to instill a drive in his daughters to strive for a bright future for themselves and the sport. King Richard will primarily explore the sisters’ lives as teenagers growing up in Compton, California and Williams’ effort to get his daughters recognized as the stars they are.

Smith leads the cast of King Richard alongside Aunjanue Ellis, The Punisher’s Jon Bernthal, Saniyya Sindey, Demi Singleton, Tony Goldwyn and Dylan McDermott. Though having first gotten in the works in early 2019 when Smith signed on to star in and produce the film, production would find itself hampered by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, running from January 2020 to near the end of the year. With the film now right around the corner from its theatrical and HBO Max debut, WB is looking to build anticipation for the sports biopic.

With less than a month remaining until the film’s arrival, Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for King Richard. The video features new footage of Smith’s titular struggling coach and his superstar daughters as well as debuting the original song “Be Alive” from Beyoncé for the film. Beyoncé’s discography has been one celebrated by fans and filmmakers alike for nearly 20 years and as she began making her way into the world of acting, the 28 Grammy Award winner has lent her talents to crafting tracks directly for the screen. When it was announced that she had written a new track for King Richard following its premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, fans flooded to social media to share their excitement for the sports biopic’s arrival and its inclusion of the then-unknown song. The new trailer for the film should build further anticipation for the film and song, pairing nicely with the rousing nature of the story at the heart of the project.
