Welcome back to Bayside High: a new Saved by the Bell sequel TV show is in the works for NBCU’s streaming service Peacock with a story focusing on Slater and Jessie. The original show began as Disney Channel’s Good Morning, Miss Bliss, which ran from 1988 through 1989. The series was retooled into Saved by the Bell and landed on NBC for four seasons as part of the network’s Saturday morning programming.

Saved by the Bell took a comedic look at a group of teenagers as they navigated the ins and outs of high school. However, the series often tackled more serious issues, including homelessness, death, environmental issues and drug use. The core cast included Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Dustin Diamond, Elizabeth Berkley, Lark Voorhies and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen. Saved by the Bell was a hit with audiences and spawned several movies, two spin-offs, comic books and a lot of merchandise. Even now, 30 years later, fans got excited when the cast recently reunited for an Instagram photo to celebrate the show’s anniversary.

That reunion is not quite over yet, though. THR reports that Saved by the Bell is getting a sequel series to air on NBCU’s streaming subscription service Peacock. The series will focus on the lives of A.C. Slater (Lopez) and Jessie Spano (Berkley), as parents of children who attend their alma mater, Bayside High School. Gosselaar will also return as California Governor Zack Morris, who made the controversial decision to close down low-income schools, resulting in an overload of new students at other schools, including Bayside.

There doesn’t seem to be word yet on if other cast members might sign on, and it seems that Gosselaar’s role could be a limited one, since he recently took on a starring role in new series Mixed-ish. Thiessen currently has a gig starring on Netflix’s Alexa & Kate. Even after the cast came together for a skit on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in 2015, Thiessen shot down the idea that bringing everyone together for a new series was even possible.

However, Hollywood has reboot and sequel fever, so never say never. NBCU’s Peacock seems to be all in as the company also announced a reboot to Battlestar Galactica with Mr. Robot showrunner Sam Esmail at the helm. Saved by the Bell is almost a no-brainer for the service, though, thanks to its nostalgia factor. Those children who never missed an episode of Saved by the Bell on Saturday mornings are now adults with kids of their own to watch the show with.
