Pokémon fans can now put a ring on it that signals to the world that two nerds have found love with these new Pikachu engagement rings.
These ring sets are the latest items to be added to the Pokémon Precious Wedding collection, which has featured bride and groom Pikachu plushies, key chains, and a special picture frame to hold wedding photos. Recently, the Pokémon Company has expanded their ring collection by adding new designs for engagement and wedding rings. Now, the collection has four ring sets to choose from, two for engagements, and two for the actual wedding band. The engagement rings are both heavily influenced by the Pokémon brand’s mascot, Pikachu. Pop the question with a ring modeled after Pikachu’s iconic ears or that adorable tail, each featuring a modest stone and available in gold or silver.
The wedding rings add an extra level to those die-hard nerds about to engage in matrimony; lovers can choose between a gold band with the silhouette of Pikachu’s head printed in the middle, or a silver and gold band inspired by the design of the classic Pokéball. Each set can be engraved and the Pikachu set is advertised with the words “I choose you” etched on the inside.
These rings are currently only available for love birds in Japan and made to order purchases that cost 346,000 yen ($3,200 USD). But a trip to Japan—or more likely with the current climate of the world, eBay—is a small price to pay to get the love of your life something that they will cherish forever. This collection has been rolling out wedding merchandise and regalia for several years and with this latest reveal will likely continue to do so.
With the Pokémon generation coming well into marrying age, products like these are the perfect niche accessory to show off the fact that you’ve found someone who knows exactly how nerdy you are and not only loves it but wants to celebrate it right alongside you. The Pokémon Company is hitting a very specific demographic with this shiny piece of symbolism and people are loving it.
