The final trailer for the highly-anticipated horror flick, It: Chapter 2, premiered at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 on Thursday, and according to lead actress Jessica Chastain, the film used a record breaking 4,500 gallons of blood during its production. The actress, who reportedly spent a large portion of the production covered in blood, claimed that the film used more gallons than any other production to date, and even described it as, “Carrie on steroids.”

To provide some context, the eighth season of Game of Thrones, which contained six episodes and an average run time of 68 minutes per episode, utilized 4,000 gallons of blood throughout its entire production. This means that It: Chapter 2 used more blood than the six-episode season of Game of Thrones, as the cast and crew applied it in approximately 288 less minutes of run time and with a much shorter script.

Chastain revealed this information during the It: Chapter 2 panel discussion, which was one of the biggest events of ScareDiego, SDCC’s annual horror-focused segment. During the panel, she explained that director Andy Muschietti only wanted the blood to cover up to her collarbone, but Chastain decided she wanted to go further with it. She went on to describe multiple instances on the set of the It sequel where everyone around her was relaxing in casual clothing, yet she found herself resting in a pool of blood.

Along with the trailer and panel discussion, attendees were treated to three exclusive clips from the upcoming movie. The It segment was one of the most discussed portions of the event, as fans erupted on social media after watching the unsettling new trailer.

The horror film, which is scheduled to release on September 6, 2019, follows the events of 2017’s critically-acclaimed blockbuster, It, as the members of the Losers’ Club travel back to their hometown of Derry, 27 years later, in order to take down Pennywise the evil clown once and for all. Along with Chastain, the film also stars James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Jake Weary, Jay Ryan, and Bill Skarsgård, who reprises his role as Pennywise the clown.
