A self-proclaimed “sex addict” is suing Twitch because he just can’t stop subbing to female streamers, according to a new lawsuit.

Well, this is new. Twitch does a decent job of ensuring that the content it provides remains family-friendly, and if that’s not what you’re looking for, there are plenty of other websites that offer more explicit streaming options.

That said, California native Erik Estavillo things that Twitch isn’t doing enough to combat the absolute tidal wave of sexual content it inadvertently provides by allowing streamers such as Alinity and Pokimane to continue to offer their unique brand of entertainment. And he’s asking a judge to fine Twitch $25 million to make the hurting stop.

According to the 56-page document obtained by Dexerto, Estavillo describes himself as a sex addict that also suffers from depression, OCD, panic disorder, agoraphobia, and Crohn’s disease. He “heavily relies on the internet for his entertainment purposes,” with Twitch being his go-to.

“Twitch has extremely exacerbated his condition by displaying many sexually suggestive women streamers through Twitch’s twisted programming net code,” reads the suit, “making it nearly impossible for the plaintiff to use Twitch without being exposed to such sexual content.”

Estavillo’s complaint with Twitch is that there is no way to filter streamers by gender, and you can only search for content by game or category. This has led him to follow 786 female streamers and not a single male streamer since he’s compelled to click on the thumbnails of “scantily clad women” but not the men.

The complaint also notes that Twitch’s “subscribe, donate, and pay bits” system is no different than how a gambling addict would behave in a casino.

Two dozen female streamers are listed in the suit, with photos of several of them as supporting evidence.

Although the suit asks for $25 million in damages, Estavillo doesn’t want the money. He asks that the $25 million by split between all Twitch Prime Turbo subscribers, with any left over donated to COVID-19 and BLM relief funds. Oh, and he wants all two-dozen female streamers listed in the complaint to be banned for life.

Dot Esports notes that this isn’t the first time Estavillo has sued a major tech company. He’s also sued Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Blizzard for various reasons. All his previous cases have been dismissed once they actually get to court.
