Suicide Squad is currently in a position to deliver big, compared to many of the underwhelming studio tentpole films seen so far during this summer movie season. The idea of a comic book movie featuring a cool cast, a talented director and an offbeat premise certainly gives the impression of something different. Additionally, this ragtag group of DC supervillains have amassed a solid following so far, with enough trailers and TV spots to get people excited.

There is also the deluge of posters generally seen with comic book movies. Given the eclectic cast of characters, it has been interesting to see the sets of posters that attempt to familiarize audiences with what they’re getting into with Suicide Squad. The candy-coated sheen of some have held onto the idea that this will be a fun and darkly comedic film. International posters certainly exist to further promote the seemingly heroic mayhem bound to be seen in the film, too.

Batman-News has come across two new international posters for Suicide Squad that makes sure to keep Jared Leto’s Joker as a looming presence. In addition to seeing a lineup consisting of Will Smith, Margot Robbie and the other members of the Suicide Squad (a.k.a. Task Force X), these posters find Joker’s sinister face in the background. Adding even more flavor, Joker is sporting creepy grin serving as a reminder of Leto’s brand of method acting.

These posters may rely on characters cut and pasted together and feel similar to other imagery already seen, but it does make for some cool marketing. While rumors surrounding Warner Bros. reactions to Batman V Superman resulting in changes to Suicide Squad have been exaggerated, it is great to see a lot of fun being had in finding ways to emphasize the nature of this upcoming film.

One can certainly continue to speculate on the nature of Joker’s presence in the film as well. Many believe Joker’s teeth to be the result of his past fights with Ben Affleck’s Batman, with a chunk of the film being devoted to developing a backstory between Joker, Batman and Robbie’s Harley Quinn. It’s not best to rely on a poster to tell the story, but there is fun to be had from inferring from what is presented.

Of course, there are those who remain unconvinced of Leto’s capabilities for this role. They are more in line with Viola Davis, who had no desire to tolerate Leto’s antics, but still ideally want a good movie to come out of all of this. Well, it’s not much, but these new posters at least want to keep selling the idea that Suicide Squad will at the very least be something different.
