According to a new rumor, Ubisoft plans to port Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection to the Nintendo Switch sometime “soon.” The Ezio-starring Assassin’s Creed games released in late 2016 on the PS4 and Xbox One, offering a collection packed with remastered versions of 2009’s Assassin’s Creed II, 2010’s Brotherhood, and 2011’s Revelations. DLC from these outings also featured in the package, ensuring players new and old could easily obtain access to all of Ezio Auditore’s adventures across Italy and Constantinople.

Thus far, only a handful of Assassin’s Creed titles are available to play on Nintendo’s popular hybrid platform, including AC Liberation and all of the Kenway-centric entries – Assassin’s Creed III, Black Flag, and Rogue. Ubisoft packaged Liberation and AC3 together in the latter’s remastered release, which launched in 2019; meanwhile, Black Flag and Rogue appear on Nintendo Switch via The Rebel Collection. It’s high time, then, that Ezio Auditore da Firenze gets some love on the handheld console.

Twitter user Direct-Feed Games, which Nintendo Life notes has a decent track record, recently reported that the “best Assassin’s Creed” will “soon” launch on the Nintendo Switch. Direct-Feed Games specifically mentions Ezio in the post, suggesting an Ezio Collection for the Switch is currently in the works. At the time of writing, there’s no word on when exactly such a release may go live on the platform. The tweet in question reads as follows,

Neither Assassin’s Creed publisher Ubisoft nor Nintendo have corroborated the Switch rumor. As such, all of the above should be taken with a pinch of salt for now. The Ezio Collection’s potential launch on Nintendo Switch doesn’t seem beyond belief, though, especially since the other Assassin’s Creed remasters are already available on the system.

While all of the mainline Assassin’s Creed titles are playable in some form on modern consoles, one release, in particular, has yet to receive the remaster treatment – 2007’s Assassin’s Creed. For reasons unknown, Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad’s first appearance remains stranded on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as far as console users are concerned. Since this counts as the only AC installment powered by the original Scimitar game engine, prior to the Anvil update in 2009, it’s possible technical difficulties could be the reason for its abandonment. Here’s to hoping Ubisoft and Co. eventually figure out a way to bring the original Assassin up to speed, though.
