Tom Hiddleston remained cryptic when asked if the Loki finale would answer all of the burning questions posed over the course of the series. What began as a journey into the Time Variance Authority has morphed into another adventure entirely as the Loki from Avengers: Endgame’s 2012 timeline was swept up in a Multiverse spanning conflict between Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie and the TVA. Loki quickly became a hit for Disney+ and Marvel, earning rave reviews and besting the viewership of both WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Heading into the finale of Loki, which reportedly has a season 2 in the works, audiences are clamoring for answers to some of the show’s biggest mysteries. Who is truly behind the TVA? What (or who) lies beyond the End of Time? Will Loki and Sylvie realize their love for each other? Will anymore Loki Variants appear? After the events of Loki episode 5, the series is set to reinvent itself yet again akin to what the series pulled after the end of episode 4, but there’s no telling what’s in store for the pair of Variants now that they’ve defeated Alioth and are hading to the castle waiting beyond.
Those hoping that Hiddleston could give a hint as to what’s in store for Loki’s finale will be disappointed. When asked on Jimmy Kimmel Live about what kind of answers the show’s final episode will provide, the actor gave a cryptic answer. Hiddleston specifically referenced all the questions surrounding the TVA, especially the most important one of all: “Who runs it?” The actor finished off by giving a particularly cheeky answer, saying, “Time will tell.”
I suppose I can tell you is, if you followed the show thus far, all the characters and the audience have a number of questions about this TVA, the Time Variance Authority. Who made it? What is it? Who runs it? Is it run by anyone or anything? Who created it? All I can say is… time will tell.
Anyone expecting answers about the Loki finale ahead of the episode’s premiere must not be familiar with Marvel’s secrecy. Considering the fact that the show will also lead directly into several major MCU films, including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and quite possibly Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the studio is surely reticent to reveal anything ahead of schedule. With many speculating that a major villain could make an appearance, the episode is under strict secrecy.
One of those secrets involves the Mephisto of Loki, who is surely Kang the Conqueror. During WandaVision’s initial run, fans waited eagerly for Marvel’s own version of the devil to be revealed as the show’s villain only to be left disappointed when that wasn’t the case. In similar fashion, many believe that Kang could be behind the TVA, making a grand appearance in the finale. Kang actor Jonathan Majors has denied rumors that he will appear as the time-hopping villain, but that doesn’t mean much. As Hiddleston said, only time will tell what happens in the Loki finale, but fortunately, there’s not much time left until the episode hits Disney+.
