Animal Crossing: New Horizons is perhaps best known for its villagers. In New Horizons there are approximately 400 villagers for players to choose from. When a plot opens up, the player has to go find a new villager to move in by going to Nook Islands. If they don’t, a random villager will move in the next day. These so-called villager hunts captivated players last year when New Horizons was at the height of its popularity, and all kinds of content creators were posting their efforts to find their favorite villagers. And while everyone has their favorites, there are plenty of Animal Crossing villagers that are simply just annoying.

The great thing about Animal Crossing and its wide variety of villagers is that no two players will have the same top ten characters. Many were absolutely obsessed with finding Raymond in New Horizons, while others simply couldn’t have cared less. Tier lists ranking villagers are all over YouTube, and each one is very different. Sure, some villagers tend to be more popular than others – like Marshall, Judy, or Raymond – but almost every villager still has their fans.

One of the best things about the Animal Crossing franchise is the community that has formed around it. Players around the world share their islands online for others to get inspiration or to be entertained. This wouldn’t be possible if everyone had the same villagers. Things would get boring pretty quickly. And while some of these characters may be someone’s favorite, here are Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ most annoying villagers.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Most Annoying Smug Villagers

While characters like Raymond and Marshal are incredibly popular, both because of their cute character design and their charm, not all Smug villagers are created equally – like Beardo, for instance. From his default outfit to his ridiculous body hair, Beardo probably isn’t a villager most players wants to have around. Other Smug villagers like Chops the pig, Graham and Rodney the hamsters, and Hippeux the hippo all are incredibly annoying, too. It’s something about their character designs, in particular, that make them so annoying. They’re either very extravagant – like Chops – or kind of sad looking – like Rodney – and it just doesn’t mesh well with the Smug personality.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Most Annoying Peppy Villagers

The Peppy villager personality type in Animal Crossing could definitely be extremely annoying to many people. These villagers are always very upbeat and happy and tend to talk a lot and very quickly. Piper and Twiggy – both bird villagers – are two such annoying characters. Like the annoying Smug villagers, it’s something about how they are designed. They are both fairly plain-looking while also looking like they’d talk about their friends behind their backs. On the opposite end of this spectrum is Chrissy the rabbit, who is so over-the-top in her character design with so many colors and polka dots that she’s just too much.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Most Annoying Jock Villagers

The Jocks are one of the most annoying personality types in New Horizons. While there are a few Jocks that are cool, the vast majority are unbearable. The Jock personality types in Animal Crossing is so very aggressive. These characters cannot stop talking about their arms or their workout routines and are always looking for competition. The most stereotypical ones like Coach the bull only bring back memories of gym class. Then there are the unhinged Jocks like Jitters the bird, who looks like he’s seen better days.

Then there are villagers whose character designs like Cobb and Curly the pigs, Cousteau the frog, and Bud the lion. They may not look like they’re Jocks, but they sure are annoying. The worst of the worst, though, is Moose the mouse. He’s very creepy looking, to start, and then he doesn’t stop talking about his abs. While these characters may be someone’s favorite despite their personalities, they were some of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ most annoying villagers.
