The Uncharted series has had cheats since the very first installment. Unlike other games, they aren’t activated by inputting codes or completing a sequence of button inputs. Instead, they’re unlocked by fulfilling certain requirements such as finishing the game on a certain difficulty, or they can be purchased with the “money” you earn from completing in-game achievements.

There’s a fairly large variety of cheats available, and most of them appear throughout the whole series, with only a couple being limited to certain games. Some make the games easier whilst others can actually make them more difficult. Regardless, they’re always worth having a play around with.

10 Helium Audio

This cheat only appears in A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy, and as can be expected from the name, it pitches the audio to be at a much higher frequency. It doesn’t just affect voices, it also changes the sound effects too, as if the entire soundboard somehow got flooded with helium.

Since the Uncharted games are known for a blend of intense action, light-hearted comedy and the odd bit of drama, this filter manages to fit in rather well. However, it won’t necessarily suit every scene.

9 Next Gen Filter

This cheat is more of a dig towards several action games of the late 2000s, such as Gears of War. In particular, it pokes fun at just how many of those games did away with any bright colors, and instead just went from brown or gray filters.

Obviously, Uncharted games don’t follow this trend and are bright, colorful affairs, which helped them to stand out amongst the crowd during the PS3 era. In fact, it could be argued that Uncharted looked more next-gen by comparison thanks to its colors.

8 No Gravity

This cheat doesn’t cause gravity to stop working entirely, but it does cause enemies and their weapons to float in midair when they die. This can technically add a bit of challenge because you’ll need to grab ammo before it floats away, but otherwise, it’s good for a laugh.

It also affects certain pieces of the environment, such as destructible boxes or loose stones. However, it’s best used during the vehicle sections because the exploding wreckage just flies off into the sky, which can make for some spectacular photos.

7 Fast Motion

Apply this cheat and everything moves at double speed, which not only makes things more comical but also increases the difficulty in various ways. For instance, puzzles, combat encounters and certain Parkour sections will require much faster reaction times, even with the increased movement speed.

It also makes the cinematic set pieces even more frantic, such as the motorbike chase in Uncharted 4 or running away from the cursed Spaniards in Uncharted 1. However, if you’ve got the skills, then this mode will be a blast.

6 One-Shot Kills

In all honesty, you might not even need this cheat if you’re good enough at aiming for regular headshots. That being said, it’s perfect for when you want to completely blast through a level with sheer abandon, since no one will be able to put you down.

This cheat can also be cathartic when you start nearing the end of an Uncharted game, since that’s when you end up facing the most annoying enemies. Specifically, the ones that are covered in heavy armor and take ages to kill.

5 Slow Motion

When used effectively, slow motion can make an already epic scene look even cooler. Given that Uncharted games are full of epic setpieces, this cheat provides a great opportunity to line up screenshots for photo mode (an amazing feature that a lot of games still don’t have).

It can also make gameplay easier in some regards because, for example, you’ve got time to line up your shots before firing, which can be a real benefit if you’re trying to unlock the various headshot achievements in each game.

4 Weapon Unlocks

Weapon cheats are perfect for causing mayhem in games, and the Uncharted games allow you to access any weapon in the game when their specific requirements are met. This is excellent for completing the various achievements which ask for a certain number of kills with each weapon.

You can also access some unique weapons which aren’t otherwise available in the main game, such as Eddy Raja’s golden pistol or Sully’s revolver. Or, you could just equip a grenade launcher at every opportunity and just go ham on your enemies.

3 Character Skins

Ever wondered what it would be like to play as Elena, Nadine or even Marco Polo? Well, with these character skins, you can suddenly become them in any level during the main campaign. It’s not just a skin swap either, because the character you use will actually make their appropriate grunts when you’re climbing around, and it includes all their outfits too.

Unfortunately, the game still defaults to the regular protagonist in cutscenes and during dialogue, but it’s arguably funnier to hear Nathan Drake’s voice coming out of Sully’s mouth.

2 Flip World

Mirror modes are fairly standard to see in games nowadays, and Uncharted is no different. However, the series technically has two variations, and the “flip world” cheat is more interesting than the standard “mirror mode” cheat for a very good reason.

Here, the game only becomes mirrored if you die, and it reverts upon dying again. Therefore, this cheat can technically be more muddling because it’s entirely possible to accidentally go the wrong way after respawning, and it’s only going to get worse on the harder difficulties.

1 Infinite Ammo

Infinite ammo cheats are always fun for when you just want to blast through a level without a care in the world. The concept also works well for Uncharted games because they’re designed to feel like big Indiana Jones adventures, especially when you’re equipped with a powerful weapon.

For some people, this may end up making the game too easy, but after you’ve slugged through Crushing and Brutal difficulty modes, you’re likely going to want to let off some steam, and this cheat provides the perfect release for all that pent-up frustration.
