It’s quite a stretch imagining a horde of undead unleashed upon a dreamy Hallmark town, but then Hallmark films are also known to feature earthy, good-hearted characters who are not just resourceful but some of them even make for good leaders. 10 Susan – The Lost Valentine

The Lost Valentine’s heartwarming storyline can engage even the most cynical Hallmark viewer, especially since it boasts a stellar characterization. The film follows journalist Susan (Jeniffer Love Hewitt) who is profiling someone who’s still waiting for her husband to return from WWII. Susan is persuasive, superbly intelligent and intuitive, and single-handedly solved a mystery simply by reaching out to the right people. This resourcefulness is hugely useful in surviving a zombie apocalypse since she would know exactly how to make allies who can help her in identifying channels or pathways that are safe and uncompromised.

9 Dater’s Handbook

Surviving a zombie apocalypse could be difficult for people who are not good listeners or have issues with taking advice. Dater’s Handbook follows Cass who basically depends on expert advice for sorting out her love life, instead of depending on her own instincts.

For civilians, it’s crucial to be able to team up during a zombie apocalypse and also find someone to guide them through the safest routes or tell them what not to do. Love Blossoms, for instance, follows a woman who has to battle several odds to finish a coveted fragrance formula left behind by her late father. Declan, her colleague and potential love interest is a botanist with an extremely keen nose; not only does Declan have an extraordinary olfactory sense but he’s also really creative. He will be a great addition to any survivor’s camp since he could probably smell the rotting flesh of the approaching undead. He also has a quick wit and seems to be a great leader, and yet does not mind following orders so he could just make his way out of an apocalypse.

7 JP – Sweet Pecan Summer

JP from Hallmark’s newest outing Sweet Pecan Summer is a realtor but he’s also a really efficient and skilled handyman, who knows a lot about construction work. In a zombie apocalypse he could easily build himself a makeshift safe house or a at least a protective bunker within a day or two, and maybe even help other survivors.

JP is also quick thinking and resourceful, he basically re-builds a barn into a saleable farmhouse and creates a market value for it. His intelligence would be his biggest asset during a crisis since it helps him think out-of-the-box and even go off-book a little to secure his safety.

6 Lisa – Finding Normal

Candace Cameron Bure is the most widely loved Hallmark star and definitely one of the most bankable names for the platform. In Finding Normal, she plays Dr. Lisa, who is sentenced to serve as a small town medic for three days, as part of community service. Lisa is not just sharp and good at her job, but she has amazing crisis management skills. In the films, she saves a little girl from life-threatening anaphylaxis, just with her medicinal knowledge and impeccable time management. She also adapts rather quickly to unwelcoming situations, since she seems to have great foresight and is also not afraid of risks. These could be useful skill sets during a zombie apocalypse because at times big changes need to be made and Lisa is simply great at calculating risks.

5 Emily – A Royal Christmas

Emily is good at adapting to unfamiliar situations which may take her quite far in a zombie outbreak; she is likable and can make friends easily and teaming up with more resourceful allies could be her way out of a plague like this. In the film, Emily seems to quickly understand the pitfalls of the situation she is in and rejects her long-time royal boyfriend since she senses she does not fit into his work.

It proves Emily also has certain leadership properties and is assertive since she can be a good decision-maker. Moreover, it doesn’t hurt that she’s a seamstress and if stranded, can at least keep herself clothed and warm, or maybe even others.

4 Carly – A Winter Princess

A zombie apocalypse pushes people toward complete unfamiliarity and someone like Princess Carly could be great at handling the unpredictability because she is a meticulous planner who’s always one step ahead of her problems. She leaves her royal life behind and adjusts with a drastic change in the job title. She also manages to keep some big secrets, and simultaneously plans a big event single-handedly. She’s also a quick-thinker and blends in well, which can be an invaluable asset during a zombie outbreak, especially since Carly is also good at making allies.

3 Shannon – Framed For Murder: A Fixer Upper Mystery

Shannon is a determined truth-seeker who gets to the bottom of a gruesome murder, with very little help. She’s professionally a contractor and she’s naturally very detail-oriented. She can sense trouble before the problem gets big just by noticing things that others would miss.

This gives her an edge over most people trying to survive a zombie outbreak because Shannon would tend to make a note of certain patterns that can help her stay alive or can at least keep her safe. In the movie, she balances logic and instinct to solve a mystery, which could work in her favor during an apocalypse like this because it doesn’t follow a rulebook as such.

2 Rob – Midnight Masquerade

Rob can sense trouble even before it makes an impact; this is quite useful during a zombie apocalypse because being too cautious is not a bad thing when dealing with something unpredictable. He notices an inconsistency in a corporate merger, which was seemingly quite minor but due to his persistent snooping around, he got to the bottom of the murky truth. This sense of determination and quick wit can keep him safe, especially since he’s quite resourceful. He’s also a great leader because he is convincing and a good communicator, so he can lead people to safety.

1 Zachary – The Nine Lives Of Christmas

Zachary is a seasoned firefighter and is more likely to find his way around adverse situations, not just because’s physically agile or tough, but because he’s trained to be a problem-solver and a team player. Emergency workers or first responders can strategize better because they have to apply practicality in their high-risk work every day. But his profession aside, Zachary is a rebel, he doesn’t follow rules blindly and is not afraid to think out-of-the-box. In a zombie outbreak, instincts could be an important asset and rule-breakers may just have an edge in a world on the brink of collapse because they’re more prone to take risks and see them through.
