10 Ambipom Is A Literal Double Threat

Aimpom is a Monkey Pokémon from Generation IV that’s an exception to this rule and his evolved form, Ambipom, is actually a dangerous fighter when in the right hands. Aimpom evolves in an unusual manner that requires the Pokémon to know Double Hit. The transformation gives Ambipom two hefty tails that make the Pokémon twice as dangerous. It’s still small in size and more mischievous than threatening, but it shouldn’t be underestimated.

9 Simipour Is A Water-Type Monkey That Packs A Punch

Generation V introduces a trio of elemental monkey Pokémon, all of which evolve through the use of corresponding elemental stones. Simipour is the evolved result of combining Panpour with the Water Stone. Simipour looks quite friendly and jovial, but it still possesses immense strength that it’s able to wield whenever it feels threatened. It’s described as the Geyser Pokémon and it’s not an understatement considering the power of its water pressure. Simipour’s water cannon in its tail can even demolish concrete walls, which makes it quite the valuable Water-Type Pokémon.

8 Thwackey Allows Itself To Get Lost In Its Rhythm

Grookey is a very adorable Grass-Type Starter Pokémon from the most recent Sword & Shield entries in the series. Grookey is still too innocent to be viewed as much of a threat, but its first evolved form, Thwackey, begins to let some darker impulses set in. Thwackey has a more gruff demeanor than Grookey and this level of seriousness is an asset in battle.

Thwackey’s commitment to drumming also gets expressed in some frightening ways that can lead to him knocking out an opponent and not even realizing it because he’s so focused on his beat.

7 Monferno Grows Into A Confident & Angry Fighter

Monferno’s situation is similar to many Pokémon that originate as Starters in the sense that it’s not until their secondary evolutionary form that the Pokémon is really looked at as strong and a significant challenge. The growth from Chimchar to Monferno is considerable since it brings Fighting-Type moves into Monferno’s strong arsenal of Fire-Type attacks. Simply on an attitude level, Monferno also shows more of a desire to prove its worth and take down others. Chimchar is still learning the ropes, but Monferno is ready to make enemies.

6 Simisage’s Tail Is A Deadly Weapon When In Close Combat

Simisage is another one of the three powerful elemental Monkey Pokémon that are introduced in Generation V. Simisage is the evolved form of Pansage, who are both Grass-Type Pokémon. Pansage’s appearance isn’t exactly threatening and it’s not until the Pokémon evolves with the Leaf Stone that it becomes truly dangerous. Simisage’s tail is his main weapon and it’s covered in thorns and barbs that can do significant damage. He’s perhaps not as strong as his fellow elemental monkey Pokémon when it comes to long-distance battles, but he’s devastating when up close.

5 Primeape Has The Aggression & Rage To Make Him The Ultimate Enemy

Primeape, as well as his previous form, Mankey, are the first two monkey Pokémon to enter the franchise and they’re present from the very first games that explore the Kanto region and its Pokémon.

Pokémon have grown much more extravagant since Generation I, but Primeape still stands out and is hard to top in some ways. Simisear may be the dopiest of Generation V’s three Monkey Pokémon, but it still knows how to employ a decent strategy. Simisear consistently scatters embers around itself to keep threats at a distance. Of course, it can also administer powerful Fire-Type attacks and do real damage when it needs to as well.

3 Infernape Has Speed & Fighting Instincts To Fall Back On

Infernape is not just an especially powerful monkey Pokémon, but he’s also one of the more popular and noteworthy ones due to his prominence in the anime series while under Ash’s care. Infernape is a Fire and Fighting-type Pokémon from Generation IV’s Sinnoh region and it’s the final form of that generation’s Fire-type starter Pokémon, Chimchar. Infernape is especially dangerous because his Fighting-type abilities strongly complement his Fire attacks. Additionally, he’s also one of the faster Pokémon, which also gives him a severe advantage in any battle.

2 Darmanitan’s Zen Magic Makes Him A Major Threat

Darmanitan is a real oddity of a Pokémon that’s introduced in Generation V’s Unova region. He bears resemblance to an angry ape and he can often come across as unstable Pokémon, although that’s not always the case. Darmanitan is a strong Fire-type Pokémon, but the Pokémon’s real strength comes from how it can enter a mysterious Zen Mode that allows it to switch types and Psychic-type abilities to the equation. This makes Darmanitan quite unpredictable and especially dangerous when using the right strategy. Curiously, Galarian’s Ice-type Darmanitan variant is much less ape-like in its appearance.

1 Rillaboom Can Create His Own Forest

Rillaboom is the final evolved form of Pokémon Sword and Shield’s Grass-type Starter Pokémon, Grookey, and he makes for one real juggernaut of a fighter. Most final evolved Pokémon are large in size due to how they add upon their previous forms, but Rillaboom resembles a lumbering gorilla that uses a drum to both cause attacks and intimidate his prey. The Isle of Armor DLC expansion also gives Rillaboom a Gigantamax form, which makes the Pokémon even more aggressive. Gigantamax Rillaboom’s drum can even cause an entire forest to grow around him and manipulate roots in a dangerous manner.
