The new season of Disney+’s The Mandalorian has just come out and further cemented the cool Spaghetti Western hero status of the titular hero himself. With Baby Yoda in tow in what appears to be a glorified babysitting adventure in a galaxy far, far away, Din Djarin (the Mandalorian) has faced many obscure baddies of the Star Wars universe.

It’s about time he graduated his status by pitting him up against the most well-known villains of the franchise. These are the antagonists of the film– the original trilogy, the prequels, and the sequels. How exactly will the Mandalorian fare against the Dark Side’s main lineup? Will he put his tribe to shame or will he show them what is the way against these villains?

10 Can Defeat: Jabba The Hutt

If Jabba the Hutt can be killed with nothing but chains, then it’s safe to say that Tatooine’s biggest underworld boss is nothing but target practice for Din Djarin. Of course, that’s not factoring in the hundreds if not thousands of bodyguards in Jabba’s employ.

Not to mention Jabba also has some mutual connections with the Galactic Empire and can easily bolster the security detail with Storm Troopers. However, Din Djarin has also proven that he can easily trick his own kind– bounty hunters and underworld mercenaries, that is. Infiltrating and then killing Jabba shouldn’t be too hard with the amount of experience he has.

9 Can’t: Palpatine

Well sure, Mando can probably get to Palpatine for some one-on-one or even get the jump on him, but he’s arguably the most powerful Sith Lord in existence. Sheev Palpatine or Darth Sidious is not just a master schemer, but also a Force powerhouse in his own right and can easily preserve himself in the event that he perishes.

He doesn’t even need to resort to that kind of backup against someone like the Mandalorian. Even if Mando manages to surprise Sheev, the latter can easily fry the former with his signature Force Lightning. With the kind of power and connection to the Force Palpatine has, he’ll likely even sense Mando coming.

8 Can Defeat: Captain Phasma

Captain Phasma looked promising as far as secondary antagonists go but sadly, she never got the screen justice she deserved in the sequel trilogy. What could have been memorable moments for her turned her into a pushover that got flushed down a garbage chute and defeated by a less experienced defector.

Much like her shiny armor, she’s all pomp and no substance. Hence, she probably won’t be able to win even a fair fight against Mando. Even Mando appears to have more weapons and combat capabilities than Captain Phasma, who is supposedly one of the best Storm Troopers in the First Order.

7 Can’t: Darth Vader

Now here’s a tall enemy that will actually lay waste to the Mandalorian. Darth Vader has always been the poster villain of the Star Wars saga and both his appearances in the films and his lesser-known escapades in the comic books or games have painted him as an almost invincible Sith Lord, bowing only to Sheev Palpatine– sometimes even barely.

In that regard, Darth Vader will more than likely command fear out of Mando as he comes straight at him, deflecting any projectile Mando throws at him. Mando will need all of Baby Yoda’s help in order to make it a decent fight and even then, he’ll only be able to survive with the assistance of his little green ward.

6 Can Defeat: General Grievous

Much like Captain Phasma, General Grievous is a boastful figure who’s more competent with threats than actions. His latest “version”– the one killed by Obi-Wan Kenobi, was defeated with mere blaster fire. Now, Kenobi might be a master swordsman of the Jedi Order, but he’s probably not that good of a marksman and just got lucky with the Force.

That means an even better-trained shooter such as Mando can make quicker work of General Grievous. One thing to also consider in a fight like this is that General Grievous was sort of trained in the Jedi arts by Count Dooku. It just so happens that the Mandalorians were also trained and equipped to go toe-to-toe with and even defeat the Jedi. There goes General Grievous’ advantage.

5 Can’t: Kylo Ren

5 Star Wars Villains The Mandalorian Can Defeat (& 5 He Wouldnt Stand A Chance Against)

Kylo Ren tried his best to be the next Darth Vader, but arguably failed because he lacked neither the composure nor the skill of his grandfather. Even so, Kylo Ren remains a formidable opponent for anyone who isn’t a Jedi or is trained in the Force.

He’s one of the few Force-users in the Star Wars saga to completely stop a blaster mid-flight. With a Force proficiency like that, any weapon Mando has might as well be useless, leaving him to rely on his trusty Baby Yoda, whose only specialty is a one-use-per-day telekinesis and maybe some Force Heal bandages.

4 Can Defeat: Grand Moff Tarkin

Grand Moff Tarkin is one of the few people aside from Sheev Palpatine who’s able to restrain or even halt an enraged Darth Vader. He can even go as far as giving him commands. Still, he’s just a human– a gaunt old man who’s way past his physical prime.

Someone who’s as battle-hardened and skillful as Mando can take him on, even without weapons. Even some of the best non-Jedi bodyguards that Moff Tarkin has shouldn’t pose too much of a threat.

3 Can’t: Darth Revan

5 Star Wars Villains The Mandalorian Can Defeat (& 5 He Wouldnt Stand A Chance Against)

When it comes to the most impressive of Sith Lords, Darth Revan takes the cake. Depending on which fans are asked, he’s more powerful– or just as powerful as Darth Vader. His exploits are even more impressive, going against the Jedi and the Sith, though he lost a lot to Mandalorians in war.

That’s why if he’s got a bone to pick with a Mandalorian like Din, then the latter will simply get obliterated. Darth Revan’s powers and skill in combat outclass most Sith Lords and Jedi in the Star Wars films. Those and his thirst for revenge against any Mandalorian will ensure Mando’s doom if they ever fight.

2 Can Defeat: Boba Fett

Boba Fett is one of the reasons why Mando exists today. He’s the cool bounty hunter archetype that Mando is based upon, which is why this fantasy match is inevitable. So which of these two Star Wars bounty hunters deserves the top spot in the cantina? Well, seeing as Boba Fett was defeated by a momentarily blind man out of clumsiness, then the award goes to Mando for mere competency.

Sure, Mando has gotten himself into some embarrassing rough spots and was even humiliated by some Jawas, but at least he’s more likely to die honorably in combat. Besides, Boba Fett is just a fake Mandalorian at least when it comes to the canon lore.

1 Can’t: Darth Nihilus

If there is one Sith Lord more disturbing than Darth Sidious or more relentless than Darth Revan, then it’s Darth Nihilus. Whenever he’s around, the Dark Side doesn’t even need superweapons like the Death Star– Darth Nihilus basically is the Death Star and can easily absorb all life forms in planet-sized bites. He also has no physical form anymore, save for his mask and robes.

It’s hard to find any Jedi that can defeat Darth Nihilus single-handedly. That’s why someone as relatively small as Mando won’t be able to handle such a behemoth. That would be akin to asking a pebble to stop a hurricane.
