The Grove Street Families are back in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition, the new remaster of the classic GTA game that took the controversial series to new heights. And much like fans had hoped when the game was first unveiled, they’ve all received the kind of glow-up that should make seeing them on a 4K display look less jarring.

It’s been more than 17 years since the game was originally released so chances are you’ve grown rather rusty since its PS2 debut. Or maybe this will be your first time checking out the iconic title and you’re going in without the rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia. The good news is the game does a decent job of providing all the information required to play it, through on-screen popups and in-game tutorials. However, you’d still want to make sure you have a few age-old tricks up your sleeves.

5 Avoid Losing Muscle With Body Fat

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was pretty revolutionary for its time and one of the many changes it had introduced to the GTA series was the ability to alter CJ’s physical appearance. This also had a direct impact on the gameplay and it was possible for him to get jacked or completely overweight, depending on his eating habits and how often he visited the gym.

These activities were tied to his Muscle and Fat stats, which in turn affected other stats like Respect and his overall Sex Appeal. Basically, the more you ate at places like the Cluckin’ Bell, the more fat you accumulated, and the more you trained at the gym, the higher your Muscle stat increased. Once the Muscle stat is maxed out, you’ll need to ensure that you maintain some decent level of Fat, or else you’ll start losing some of that muscle.

4 Permanently Improve Your Stamina Through Burglary Missions

Another stat you’ll want to keep an eye on in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the Stamina stat. This dictates how long you can sprint, cycle or swim for, three activities you’ll find yourself needing over the course of the game. The stat is improved every time you engage in those activities, but there is another way for you to max it out permanently.

You do so by performing the various Burglary missions within the game, which involves breaking into people’s houses at night and stealing valuable items. Once you manage to complete level 12 of these missions, you are rewarded with a completely maxed out Stamina stat, which enables you to sprint and cycle indefinitely.

3 Enter The Airport Without A Pilot’s License

One of the many places players would want to visit in San Andreas is the Airport. Not only can you go there to fly one of the available planes, but it also has some free weapons and ramps for making unique jumps. The problem though is that it takes a fair bit of time before you get the pilot’s license needed to access the place.

Whenever you try to enter the airport without one, you are greeted by a locked gate and told by a guard that “This area is restricted to pilots only.” However, there is a simple way to bypass security. Simply park your car next to the security booth and step out. Make sure you’re close enough because you’ll need to climb to the roof of your car and then jump onto the roof of the guardhouse. From there you’ll be able to easily jump over the chainlink fence and into the airport. Doing so automatically grants you access to the facility, so you can go out the now open gates to retrieve your car if you like.

2 Explore San Fierro Early Without Wanted Stars

San Andreas is made up of three distinct cities: Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las Venturas. You start off in Los Santos in the beginning portions of the game, and while it is possible to gain access to the other two cities right off the bat, doing so will instantly slap with a 6-star wanted level. But as you can already guess, there is a nice workaround.

Using the airport access hack highlighted in the previous tip, steal one of the planes in the airport and fly towards Mount Chiliad. Chances are you’ll eventually get shot down by the military not long after you leave Los Santos. Parachute down to safety, then use the fastest bike you can steal until you get to a tilted wooden ramp. Ride off the ramp at full speed and the fall should be enough to kill CJ. If all goes well though, he should spawn in one of the San Fierro hospitals without the stars, so feel free to explore the city to your heart’s content.

1 Take On Drug Dealers To Get Some Easy Cash

The streets of Los Santos are quite dirty, with all sorts of people with questionable professions milling about. One sort that becomes particularly prevalent as you progress through the game are the drug dealers.

You can typically find them on shady street corners peddling their wares. Approaching one and responding negatively will eventually result in you getting attacked. However, if you manage to win the fight (which shouldn’t be too hard to do) you get to steal their weapon and all of their money. Each drug dealer carries around $2,000, which can go a long way especially early on in the game.
