Spanning 10 seasons, Adventure Time won over its fans with iconic lead characters such as Finn, Jake, and the Ice King. While this ensemble has been appearing on the fantasy show since its debut season, the cast only increased from the sophomore season onward.

Since then, fans grew to love supporting and guest characters ranging from the villainous Lich and the friendly Banana Man. Apart from just being memorable scene-stealers, these characters are also popular for the actors who voice them, many of whom are high-profile names like Ron Perlman, Donald Glover, and so on.

9 The Lich

First introduced in an episode from Adventure Time season 2, The Lich is a recurring antagonist who is depicted as the manifestation of death. The cosmic being is a straightforward villain in the sense that his only goal is to destroy all life. Even though he speaks only a few words, most of his lines are impactful and intimidating enough to make his presence felt.

The Lich’s powers are immense as the creature can even possess others like Princess Bubblegum and Billy. However, his character gets a good closure when he finally turns into a harmless child and loses his old personality.

Fionna And Cake

Fionna and Cake are definitely some of the best Adventure Time characters for the sheer courage they evoke in their adventures. The gender-swapped versions of the series protagonists Finn and Jake, the two characters were a result of the Ice King’s imaginary scenarios.

However, compared to their real-world counterparts, Fionna and Cake are more mature and fearless. If there’s one thing that’s similar between both pairs is that they share a wholesome and loyal bond of friendship that goes in line with the central theme of the series.

8 Earl of Lemongrab

The rulers in Adventure Time are mostly obnoxious and immature, the Earl of Lemongrab being no exception. He serves as the ruler of the Earldom of the Lemongrab while also waiting in line for the throne of the Candy Kingdom.

The Earl provides for some hilarious scenes whenever he goes in his emotionally sensitive moods. He’s easy to get annoyed whenever he’s proven to be wrong. These insecurities are then projected on his subjects, not showing them an ounce of empathy. In this way, his character also acts as an interesting satire on real-world rulers many of whom might be similarly inept in their duties. He’s definitely an Adventure Time side character who deserves his own spinoff.

7 Magic Man

In a world filled with wholesome characters, Magic Man can be a real nuisance. Banished to Earth two centuries ago, he wreaks havoc with his magical powers and shapeshifting abilities.

The worst part about Magic Man’s personality is that he hardly has any regrets for his actions. He is outspoken about his imperfect character traits. But, honesty, in this case, would only prove to be futile as Magic Man uses it as an excuse to justify his wrongdoings. As most of Adventure Time’s cast is wholesome, it is interesting to find a character who lacks any empathy. In the end, his character is such that fans would love to unite in their hatred towards him.

6 Party God

An absurdity in his own right, Party God is a criminally underused Adventure Time character who steals every scene in which he appears. The so-called “god” is literally a flying wolf’s head who believes in nothing else but partying. Party God can also bless his devotees with the energy of 1000 Partying Demons!

But the show doesn’t make its characters that one-dimensional. Apart from his merrymaking approach, the snapback-wearing god has his own share of issues, mainly the distance with his then-girlfriend Island Lady. Given his cool and unconventional powers and his complicated relationship, Party God makes the character worth exploring in more episodes.

5 Marshall Lee

As was the case with Fionna and Cake, Marshall Lee is also a product of the tragic villain Ice King’s imagination and is actually a gender-swapped version of Marceline. In many ways, Lee is the same as Marceline and possesses her floating abilities.

Marshall Lee’s personality adds some grey areas, making the character more interesting. Right from his debut, Lee describes himself as a violent villain. His constant interest in the metal music subculture adds to his toughened personality. But as his story progresses, viewers get a glimpse of his emotional side too especially with the flirtatious friendship that he shares with Fionna.

4 Flame Princess

The ruler of the Fire Kingdom, Flame Princess aka FP is a highly temperamental character and she can unleash her powers in the middle of violent mood swings.

At the same time, fans can feel empathetic towards Flame Princess for her tough upbringing as she was locked up when she was just an infant. Hence, she lacks an understanding of the outside world and struggles to fit in. Even though her relationship with Finn failed, she began to trust more people and opened up to them eventually.

3 Banana Man

Banana Man is one of the cutest Adventure Time characters who first appeared in season 3. In most of his appearances, he seems to be obsessed with space travel and even builds a rocket that Jake and Finn accidentally destroy. Yet he doesn’t hold any grudges and later in the series, the duo even helps him to find a romantic partner.

Even though Banana Man’s social understanding is limited, his technical knowledge is immense. The very fact that he could build a rocket shows that he was well aware of the science and technology from the pre-Mushroom War era. This easily makes him one of the smartest Adventure Time characters.

2 Mr. Pig

An ally of Finn, Jake, and the Tree Trunks, Mr. Pig has also been used as an evil minion at the hands of Jaybird and other villains. In terms of physical appearance, he just looks like any other pig. However, his story arc only goes on to humanize him further.

As he reveals to the best friends Finn and Jake, Pig didn’t always wish to serve his tyrannical overlords and was forced in some cases. Mr. Pig keeps a smiling personality despite all these challenges in his life. He is just one of the many examples to show how Adventure Time can add emotional dimensions to even minor characters.

1 Abracadaniel

Abcradaniel is a wizard who can execute some basic magic tricks but he struggles greatly in each case. His specialty is creating rainbows, another daunting task for him.

At the same time, Abcradaniel is notable for being unintentionally inspirational. He knows that his limited magic skills would not make him a master wizard. His chances of victory while dueling with other wizards are also very minimal. And yet, he keeps on trying out his spells over and over again, hoping to improve upon his mistakes one day.
