All Among Us Common Tasks (& How To Pretend To Do Them)

Common tasks are things everyone in Among Us has to do, and figuring out what tasks Impostors aren’t helping Crewmates out on is key to victory.

All Among Us Common Tasks (& How To Pretend To Do Them)

There are a lot of potential tasks in Among Us, but only a few of them are classified as “Common” tasks, which mean every player has to do them. Figuring out which tasks in an Among Us map are Common, and who isn’t currently performing their Common task, is key to figuring out who that round’s current Impostor (or Impostors) is/are.

Unfortunately, this is made a little more complicated by the three different maps in Among Us. Each map has their own set of Common tasks, and players who are used to playing The Skeld may not be as familiar with the tasks on maps like MIRA-HQ or Polus. Simple practice is the best way to get familiar with all of Among Us’ new maps (and everyone will be in the same boat once The Airship launches in 2021) but below is a list of every Common task in the game, as well as an estimation of how long each one takes.

It’s important to know how long a certain task takes in Among Us, because Impostors can’t actually perform tasks themselves. Instead Among Us’ Impostors have to pretend to do tasks – and leaving from a task area too soon or taking too long can be a pretty obvious sign of being sus. Some Common tasks are easier to spot fakers on than others, but with a little knowledge (and a lot of practice) Among Us players can make a pretty good guess on who is faking a Common task and who isn’t.

Among Us: Common Tasks On MIRA-HQ

All Among Us Common Tasks (& How To Pretend To Do Them)

Among Us’ MIRA-HQ map contains two different Common tasks, only one of which is unique. They are:

  • Enter Id Code – Players must put in the sequence of numbers located on a card in their wallets. This should not take longer than fifteen or twenty seconds.
  • Fix Wiring – This Common task is available on every Among Us map and can take a long time to complete. Most frustratingly, only the last of the three wiring panels will make the task bar increase, making it incredibly hard to judge how long the task takes. Roughly, each panel should take players no longer then ten or fifteen seconds.

Among Us: Common Tasks On Polus

Among Us’ Polus map has more common tasks (right now) than any other location in the game. It remains to be seen whether The Airship, Among Us’ next location, will have as many. The Common tasks on Polus are:

  • Fix Wiring – This Common task is available on every Among Us map and can take a long time to complete. Most frustratingly, only the last of the three wiring panels will make the task bar increase, making it incredibly hard to judge how long the task takes. Roughly, each panel should take players no longer then ten or fifteen seconds.
  • Insert Keys – This is one of the easiest common tasks. If a player know what they are doing, it should take no longer than five to ten seconds.
  • Scan Boarding Pass – This also takes barely any time at all. Players only need to flip over their pass and hold it over the scanner. It should take no longer than ten seconds.
  • Swipe Card – This is one of the most annoying Common tasks in Among Us. It can take anywhere from five seconds to a full minute depending on how good the player is at figuring out what swipe speed Among Us is asking for. This is an easier task for mobile Among Us players than it is for users on PC.

Among Us: Common Tasks On The Skeld

The worst tasks in Among Us are both Common tasks which originated on The Skeld, the game’s original map location. They are:

  • Fix Wiring – This Common task is available on every Among Us map and can take a long time to complete. Most frustratingly, only the last of the three wiring panels will make the task bar increase, making it incredibly hard to judge how long the task takes. Roughly, each panel should take players no longer then ten or fifteen seconds.

Among Us: Common Tasks On The Airship

Although The Airship map for Among Us hasn’t released yet, there is some information available on the Common tasks which will be available. So far, Among Us’ new map will include:

  • Enter Id Code – Players must put in the sequence of numbers located on a card in their wallets. This should not take longer than fifteen or twenty seconds.
  • Fix Wiring – This Common task is available on every Among Us map and can take a long time to complete. Most frustratingly, only the last of the three wiring panels will make the task bar increase, making it incredibly hard to judge how long the task takes. Roughly, each panel should take players no longer then ten or fifteen seconds.

Right now, that is all of the common tasks players can engage with in Among Us. Once the game’s newest map, The Airship, releases, it is likely there may be new Common tasks players will watch out for. While some of the tasks are harder to spot fakers at than others, noticing someone hasn’t done a Common task – or, more likely, noticing a player is pretending to do a Common task like Card Swipe when it’s not even on the list – is a great way to spot an Impostor, and will make winning at Among Us that much easier. If the developers at InnerSloth have any humanity, however, they won’t include Card Swipe on Among Us’ new The Airship map – not just for the players who are on PC and find it impossible to match their swipe timing, but for everyone.
