American Horror Story Apocalypse Mallorys Powers Explained

In American Horror Story: Apocalypse, Mallory holds powers beyond the great Supreme’s and any other witch that has entered Ms. Robichaux’s Academy. Portrayed by Billie Lourd of Scream Queens, the young witch plays an integral role in stopping the apocalypse with her extraordinary talents. Created by Ryan Murphy, the eighth season of the popular FX show American Horror Story explores a world that has fallen victim to nuclear warfare.

With the apocalypse, the Antichrist, and the most powerful witch to grace the coven, American Horror Story: Apocalypse has it all. Initially, Mallory plays a mousy personal assistant when she is actually the savior of the world. In the events leading up to the apocalypse, the Supreme Cordelia Goode (Sarah Paulson) has a vision of Michael Langdon (Cody Fern) leading the end of times. To protect their strongest asset, Cordelia places a spell on Mallory to keep her memories and identity a secret while the coven waits to strike.

While in Outpost 3, Mallory’s magical abilities grow stronger even while lying dormant. In the midst of Michael Langdon playing mind games with everyone inside, her powers erupt and he becomes fearful of her strength. Ultimately, the season culminates in Mallory using her gifts to go back in time by performing Tempus Infinituum to kill Michael before his demonic abilities mature. In the process, she earns cred with the demons in hell, bringing back Misty Day (Lily Rabe) and stopping the apocalypse.

American Horror Story Apocalypse: Time Travel & Mallory’s Powers Explained

Mallory’s capabilities are beyond belief but her backstory offers an explanation for how she got to be so powerful. Coming from a long line of witches, her ancestry stems all the way back to Salem, Massachusetts. The first inkling of her strength comes when Zoe (Taissa Farmiga) watches her effortlessly turn flower petals into butterflies. Once Mallory resurrects a deer and reverses its wounds entirely, Myrtle Snow (Frances Conroy) declares to Cordelia that she must be the next Supreme.

She flawlessly passes the test of the seven wonders and accomplishes Tempus Infinituum, a spell no witch has ever done and made it out alive. In the simplest of terms, her impressive powers and time-traveling ability are traced back to her lineage as a Salem descendant. In American Horror Story: Coven, it is revealed that the supreme Fiona Goode (Jessica Lange) was also a Salem descendant and showed extraordinary abilities early on. The belief is that the closer in ties a witch has to Salem or New Orleans, the more powerful they are. Therefore, Mallory’s powers and time-traveling capabilities are directly related to her Salem heritage.

There is some speculation that after the events of American Horror Story: Apocalypse Mallory’s powers may elude to something beyond Salem, due to the fact the Antichrist shook in her wake. As season ten nears, fans are hopeful that Mallory will make a reappearance and get a deeper backstory.
