One fan artist has imagined what it would be like if Pokémon’s Team Rocket were crewmates in Among Us. Viewers of the long-running Pokémon anime will recognize the team of Jesse, James, and their talking feline sidekick Mewoth thanks to their never-ending and ultimately fruitless attempts to steal Ash Ketchum’s beloved Pikachu at the behest of the criminal mastermind and part-time Gym Leader Giovanni and his global crime syndicate.

While it remains up in the air whether or not the trio is truly evil or simply doing the job they were assigned, Team Rocket has remained a harmless yet enduring thorn in the side of Ash and his constantly rotating circle of friends throughout a whopping 24 seasons of the Pokémon anime – and the troublesome team has naturally crossed over into the game series the show is based on. Jesse, James, and Meowth were famously inserted into 1998’s Pokémon Yellow as recurring boss characters, and they have also been the subject of a few Pokémon Go events over the past year or so.

Now, Reddit user Ariejxd imagines what it would be like if Team Rocket took a break from harassing an eternally 10-year-old boy and his pet mouse to cause trouble (and make it double) for the crewmembers of Among Us in an inspired piece of fanart that was posted to the Among Us subreddit yesterday. This image reimagines Jesse, James, and Meowth in the game’s art style, with two crewmates sporting Jesse and James’s signature hairstyles and a third featuring Meowth’s face.

Though Ariejxd’s Team Rocket fan art is just that, Among Us has seen a more official crossover in recent weeks thanks to the massively successful multiplayer mystery game’s debut on PlayStation consoles – which was heralded by skins based on the upcoming Ratchet And Clank: Rift Apart. On a much more bizarre note, players will soon get another chance to unlock an in-game mask of Summer Games Fest architect Geoff Keighley’s face, which was initially offered as a reward for viewers of The Game Awards 2020.

Team Rocket would certainly be up to no good in Among Us, even if they didn’t turn out to be Impostors. Ariejxd’s homemade avatars of the infamous trio are cute and spot-on (aside from the Jesse and James crewmembers wearing business suits instead of the classic Team Rocket uniforms), and makes one wish that Nintendo would collaborate with Innersloth for a fun Pokémon/Among Us crossover one of these days.
