Animal Crossing How to Grow More Vegetables

Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 has a lot of new features for players to test out, including the ability to grow new vegetables and use them in unique cooking DIY recipes. There are six types of vegetable starts that players will need to buy in order to grow crops. The starts are only available through one of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ NPC vendors.

There is a variety of returning NPC characters to interact within the 2.0 update. Players will need to invest in their businesses on Harv’s island in order to gain access to their shops. There are a few steps players can take in order to get Leif’s shop started in the new open market area on Photopia. His vendor location stays the same, and players will need to invest in his shop first if they want to start growing vegetables right away.

After getting Leif’s shop up and running, players will be able to purchase vegetable starts individually for 280 bells or in bundles of five for 1,400 bells. Vegetables can be planted on the player’s island and watered to help them grow. It will take a few days before they can be harvested and used in Animals Crossing: New Horizons’ cooking recipes. The vegetables available are potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, wheat, pumpkins, and sugar cane.

Obtaining More Vegetables in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0

To get started, players will need to travel to Harv’s island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons from the airport. When players arrive, they’ll notice a new path on the island where they can find Harv speaking to Harriet. Players are told Harriet and Harv are working on opening up a market on the island and inviting vendors to start permanent shops, but they need financial help. There are seven shops available to invest in, and each one costs 100,000 bells to open. Leif’s shop is in the top right corner of the market.

Animal Crossing players can only fully invest in one shop per day. Once a vendor reaches their goal, no other Lloids will accept donations. Pay the 100,000 bells to open Leif’s shop, then return the next day to find him on Harv’s island ready to start selling. He will have two random vegetable starts available each day. Purchase the desired vegetables, then return home to plant and water them.

Alternatively, if players don’t want to spend the bells to open Leif’s shop, they can wait for him to visit their island. However, this happens randomly, so it can take a while to find him. Leif will still visit the island if his shop is open, and he will be missing from Harv’s island whenever he visits the player’s home. Growing vegetables is essential to creating unique dishes available with the new cooking DIY recipes included in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0.
