Show your appreciation with the gift of flowers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Gifts are an important facet of Animal Crossing: New Horizon. Most of those gifts are sent to the player in the form of floating boxes wrapped in ribbons or handed over directly from NPC villagers, but players can also send gifts thanks to your island’s mail courier service.

And sending gifts was recently revealed to be an important feature of limited-time events. In the Earth Day-themed Nature Day event, players can get extra Nook Miles+ challenges that included sending “gratitude with flowers.” This basically meant sending flowers to someone currently on the island. Doing so is a bit of a process, but we’re here to walk you through it.

Step 1: Pick some flowers. This is pretty easy as you just need to walk up to some flowers and hit Y to pick them. Note that the flowers MUST be picked as flowers that have been dug up cannot be mailed (nobody wants to get a clump of dirt in the mail).

Step 2: Go to Dodo Airlines and grab a postcard. This can be done from the postcard rack in the top-right corner of the office. You’ll then be able to send the card to a resident villager and enter in a message if you so desire.

Step 3: Select the present icon in the bottom-right corner and select your flowers. The present icon represents sending a gift and hitting it will bring up the player’s pocket inventory. Select the flowers and then hit OK to send the postcard with your gift.

Although Nature Day is over, it’s still possible for a daily Nook Miles+ challenge to come up that requires players to send gifts, so this process is an important one to nail down. Maybe practice by sending some flowers to a local villager that you’re particularly fond of?

In the meantime, New Horizons’ May Day event is still going on. You can see Tom Nook to pick up your May Day Ticket and go visit the May Day Island maze. Completing the maze will net players a mysterious gift.
