With the final free update to Animal Crossing New Horizons comes a colossal number of brand new items. In the past most items available to purchase came in multiple styles and colours, but you needed to buy or pick up each one to have it catalogued. Cataloguing parties became popular where groups of friends visited each other’s islands to catalogue different sets of furniture.

However, in 2.0 almost everything is customizable, whether at a DIY Bench or with the new addition Cyrus on Harv’s island. Here are the the best new items that can also be customized.

11 Fences

Being able to fence off particular areas of your island has always been a great way to make it your own, but with the addition of Park Fencing (and the other new Park items) you can customize most fence types. This provides an even wider range of new habitat possibilities.

Unlock ‘Custom Fencing In A Flash’ with Nook Miles and Park Fencing will be an available DIY afterwards. There are nine new fence types, though only two are currently customizable, the Park Fence and the Large Lattice Fence.

10 Sci Fi Bed

Every now and then Celeste can be found wandering your island watching shooting stars. Upon talking to her she will excitedly tell you about constellations and hand you a Constellation or Sci Fi DIY. Among the new Sci Fi items that have been added in the update is the Sci Fi Bed, a very futuristic sleeping capsule which can be changed to suit your style. So far the bed can be changed into four different colors, depending on your preference.

A creepy looking Sci Fi Tube has been spotted too, of which the liquid inside can be changed on a sliding color scale when placed. Let’s hope it doesn’t cultivate an alien.

9 Hanging Shelf

The Nook Stop is going to be in frequent use as another decorating possibility is unlocked with Nook Miles, the Pro Decorating License. For 2,500 Nook Miles you can unlock the ability to add accent walls in you home, as well as hang specific items from the ceiling. Among the huge variety of light fixtures and fans can be found Hanging Shelves.

Many Animal Crossing fans fell in love with the ironwood set of DIYs which can produce a very chic kitchen design. Duplicates sold for thousands of Bells when the game was first released. Multiple sheds can be discreetly set up throughout your island and even painted to fit in with the aesthetic. There are eight color pallettes to choose from, so there’s no need to redesign a scenic area to hide your Storage Shed.

7 Donation Box

Similar to the new Wooden Storage Shed, this item can be bought for Nook Miles and is functional as well as customizable. Step up to a DIY Bench with some Customization Kits to change the type of wood and even the sticker on the front of your Donation Box.

Once you’re pleased with the result you can place it on your island, maybe near the entrance, and visitors can leave donations of 1000 Bells in it for you. Pick up the Donation Box to take out the money put inside. Lots of players set up games for their friends to play, and this item is the perfect way for them to show their appreciation for all that hard work. The sticker choices could even be used to represent what activity the visitors are tipping for, such as the iconic Animal Crossing leaf sticker.

6 Shell Musicbox

Pascal really is living his best life. Floating around on his back, spouting wisdoms and collecting Scallops from players. He does provide a DIY in exchange, or a Pearl, and a new DIY you can be given is the Shell Musicbox. It comes in five beautiful colors, all of which have a pearlescent quality to them. This is the perfect addition to any seaside mermaid layout you might have dreamed of.

As expected, KK Slider songs can be played on it, including his new hits, so sit back and relax with the waves next to your customized Shell Musicbox.

5 Gaming Desk

The totally decked out Gaming Desk with more screens than any gamer could ever need will set you back just as much money as a real one. The Gaming Chair is sold separately of course.

This gets really exciting when using Customization Kits on it, as not only does the desk itself change color, but the screens will depict different games. Looking closely, some of them definitely seem familiar, as well as the popular gaming communication app Discord. Let your villager play video games while you play a video game.

4 Rococo Collection

If you are a long time Animal Crossing fan you might remember the Rococo Collection that could only be obtained through wishing on a shooting star (and very rarely from friendly neighbors). Well, this elegant set is back again, and this time it’s even more extensive and beautifully designed.

Due to the fact players can customize both the framing of the furniture and the signature cloth portions separately, there are a jaw dropping 56 combinations for some of the furniture pieces, such as the chair. NPC Photos aren’t a new thing in New Horizons, but there are many new NPCs that you can get photos from. Well, they’re old fan favorite NPCs that have been brought back, but no one’s complaining. If you didn’t know already, photo frames can be customized once you receive a neighbor’s picture. This happens when you’re best friends, but with the new NPCs it’s likely their pictures will be available on Harv’s island.

There are almost endless frame designs available to pay homage to any of the NPCs that have captured your heart over the years.

2 Vine Lamp

Kapp’n’s back, and like the musical magician he is, he’s sailing the players off to brand new islands with some questionable themes. These islands can be in different hemispheres (how did he get us here so quickly?), different times of year, and even contain different types of flora. Vines and strange Glowing Moss can be harvested on a few of these quirky islands, and new furniture sets ensue.

If you want your home to be filled with creeping, crawling vines then craft a Vine Lamp and customize it any four ways. Be sure to give it a spritz of water every now and then though (just kidding!).

1 Froggy Chair

Okay, this isn’t a new item at all, more like a bonus because everyone is obsessed with this cute little seat. Our friend the Froggy Chair can now be customized into five new styles, including a cool tiger stripe theme. The possibilties of decoration with Froggy Chair are endless.
