A player of Animal Crossing: New Horizons has recreated some of the cast of Futurama with a little help from the game’s latest 2.0 update. Fans of the Nintendo game have been exploring the new content, features, and characters introduced in the free update, which launched just ahead of the Animal Crossing Happy Home Paradise paid DLC last week.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have been recreating or paying homage to their favorite shows, movies, and memes since the game first released, but the latest update has made it easier than ever. Thanks to the new wallpapers, flooring, costumes, food items, and more, in-game recreations and cosplays have never been as realistic or as detailed. Some of the most popular new items that have already spawned memes in the game include the fan-favorite resuscitation dummy, as well as the bread item, which has already been used to bring Silent Hill memes to Animal Crossing.
Redditor GD056’s reimagining of the cast of Futurama gives Reneigh the role of Leela and Cephalobot the role of Bender, with the player cosplaying as Fry (via GameRant). Cephalobot is one of the new 2.0 update characters and the game’s newest robot, with a shiny metal exterior that has helped to bring a realistic interpretation of Bender to ACNH for the first time. A screenshot of the trio was shared to Reddit along with a comparison image from the show, demonstrating how the player captured the look. Cephalobot is posed to mimic Bender’s arm-raised position, while Reneigh is captured side-on, giving her the appearance of having just one eye like Leela. The player character as Fry is wearing a similar red jacket, with a hairstyle as close to Fry’s as Animal Crossing will allow. The creative post has impressed Reddit, receiving over 2,000 upvotes at the time of writing.

Unfortunately for Futurama fans, there’s one beloved character missing from the shot, and one who could be easily recreated in Animal Crossing. Fan-favorite Zoidberg isn’t featured in the image, but Animal Crossing’s Octavian the octopus could make a good substitute for the crustacean-like species of alien. While Octavian’s red coloring is darker than Zoidberg’s, the character is possibly the closest in the AC villager roster when it comes to looking like Zoidberg.
The Animal Crossing 2.0 update has caused a surge in new interest for the 2020 release, drawing in countless new players and seeing the game trend across social media in the days following its release. As well as adding new characters, the update introduces cooking, farming, more storage options, the Roost cafe, and more. Players who purchase the Happy Home Paradise DLC, which comes included with the new Nintendo Switch Online N64 tier, will also find a host of new gameplay as they work to build holiday homes for villagers. According to a datamine, the Animal Crossing update adds more than 9,000 items in total, offering lots of new opportunities for decoration and design.
