JoJo Siwa and her pro dancer Jenna Johnson had a big wakeup call Monday night when they found themselves in Dancing With The Stars’ bottom two. The hit ABC competition series honored the music of the late Freddie Mercury Monday night, where the child star had an opportunity to dance to her favorite band ever. The duo performed a tango to Queen’s “Body Language” and received a total score of 39 out of 40. Nonetheless, they still ended up in the bottom two alongside Mike “The Miz” Mizanin and pro dancer Witney Carson. JoJo made it to week 8 with the help of the judge’s saving power.

The bottom two results were shocking considering Jenna and JoJo have received perfect scores from judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli, and Len Goodman two weeks in a row. Unfortunately, their downfall came from a lack of viewers votes. Many fans of the show were furious about the results on Twitter, going as far as accusing the show of being fake and rigged.

In a new interview with Screen Rant right after their scary almost-elimination, Jenna and JoJo reveal their nerves during the unexpected moment. “Jenna’s shoulder has a hole in it because I was scraping it while we were standing there,” JoJo said. The maturing star admitted that she was likely in the bottom two because the competition is tough this season, and since they continue to receive high scores, viewers assume they’ll “sail by” to the finale. As for Jenna, she admits the moment was not fun. “We’re super grateful to be here, but being in the bottom two was not fun. But a good reminder that we need to remind people to vote and nobody is safe whatsoever. Even depending on what your score is.”

Nonetheless, JoJo is just grateful for the way Dancing With The Stars has impacted her life physically, mentally and emotionally. “My mind has changed more than my body has, for sure,” she said. “I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned a lot about being happy. I’ve learned a lot about – just yesterday – and the day before – not second-guessing myself and being on eggshells. And I learned how stressed I get when I get Jen’s mad at me.” JoJo added that her mind is growing and changing throughout this process, especially when it comes to being more accepting and open-minded about her own abilities on and off the dance floor.

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba had a great point when she noted that JoJo’s is showing signs of maturity in the same way Zendaya did when she appeared on the show. The Euphoria star grew up in front of viewers eyes and suddenly became an actor rather than a child star in daily conversation. Dancing With The Stars fans all have a hunch that the same respect will be given to JoJo moving forward.
