Bangalore’s smoke can blind most players, but Caustic has a trick to see through it. Each character in Apex Legends has unique abilities that give them the edge in battle. Unfortunately, there are other characters that can neutralize them with their own abilities.

Bangalore is a renowned warrior. Her tactical ability allows her to deploy smoke that creates a shield and reduces the vision of other players. Once the smoke is deployed, opposing players get blinded and Bangalore gets time to regroup, reload, or revive teammates. This ability is particularly useful when holding down a building or taking damage. Unfortunately, the smoke isn’t foolproof against all players, with recon players like Bloodhound being able to see through it. Now, there is also a tactic for Caustic to see through it.

According to Dexerto, Reddit user xxGURIxx posted a clip showing the tactic. After entering a room full of smoke, Caustic first uses his ultimate ability, the Nox gas grenade. Thanks to its wide coverage the gas causes damage to the first enemy, who retreats to the next room. He follows the enemy, throwing a gas trap into the room and waiting for it to detonate before making his next move.

When the Nox gas grenade or the gas trap are triggered, not only do they cause damage, but they also highlight the enemy in a green color. The green highlighting makes them visible, even in smoke. As a result, they become easy targets. Not only are they visible, but they are taking damage from the gas and have to retreat. The user goes on to wipe out the whole team and revive his teammates. Bangalore’s smoke was completely useless against him.

Caustic is a divisive character in the game. Some players hate him because of his large hitbox and “dirty” style of play. Others love him because his gas traps can be placed in strategic places and cause massive damage to unsuspecting victims. Placing gas traps near Revenant totems and Wraith portals are just two other ways to cause devastation on the battlefield.

If you have Caustic unlocked it may be worth trying these tactics. Nobody knows if the ability to see through the smoke is intended or if it’s a glitch. So far there’s been no response from Respawn. What’s certain is that Caustic is the most toxic character in the game.
