Retro arcade designers Arcade1Up is continuing its legacy of reviving the classic pastime for fans and collectors by bringing a new treasure to the line up. The company has announced that the Ms. Pac-Man arcade cabinet will be available this fall and joins a string of other new releases that collectors can’t wait to get a hold of.

The company announced last month that it plans to release the popular arcade game cabinet in time for the 2020 holiday season. The cabinet will bundle the premiere game with other titles in Arcade1Up style including Galaxian, Pac-Mania, and Pac-Man Plus It was also disclosed that Ms. Pac-Man has been the most in-demand game from customers for years and is one of the four releases coming this year. Big Buck Hunter Pro, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, and Marvel Pinball will also arrive in the not too distant future.

This is the first arcade cabinet to be made of Ms. Pac-Man since 1981 and retro gamers are looking forward to adding it to their gaming dens. Followers of the company on Twitter expressed admiration for the cabinet design, however they had a few bones to pick with its game selections. A lot of interested was thrown in the way of a possible Tron cabinet, but Arcade1Up’s thread was also full of complaints against the company for splitting series games between cabinets to encourage customers to by both. Other users wanted to see a different lineup of games on the Ms. Pac-Man machine like Dig Dug or Rally-X and were disappointed that Galaxian appeared on both the gen 1 Pac-Man cabinet and this one.

Arcade1Up is very popular among gaming collectors who prefer to hack the arcade system and use the machine to play more games that they’ve previously downloaded. The company provides a DIY arcade build for amateur enthusiasts and for more experienced builders and technicians who really know how to make it their own.

Many retro gamers prefer Ms. Pac-Man to its classic original because of its new mazes, characters and A.I. for the ghosts. It was originally designed to be a lesser version of the iconic Pac-Man and subsequently called it Crazy Otto. Not wanting a lawsuit on their hands, the creators wanted the approval of Bally Midway who in turn bought the game off of their hands after being impressed by the gameplay. Bally Midway replaced the characters with its licensed Pac-Man characters and created additional cut scenes to finally produce the sequel.
